I can explain the first one: in German, a “softie” is a nice, caring, cuddly person (usually a guy). They’ve adopted it from English, just like they’ve adopted “handy” to mean a mobile phone. For “straight guy” they probably meant “straight-forward” guy, so like a manly, macho, bad boy guy basically. So it was just a little language slip-up, they meant to ask “do you prefer a sweet guy or a bad boy?”
