He initially asked "Bieber is German for basketball, true or false?" in his accent, and when Justin said "what?" the interviewer only partially repeated the statement, like "German for basketball?" ... so I can see how that this happened, tbh. I can explain the first one: in German, a “softie” is a nice, caring, cuddly person (usually a guy). They’ve adopted it from English, just like they’ve adopted “handy” to mean a mobile phone. For “straight guy” they probably meant “straight-forward” guy, so like a manly, macho, bad boy guy basically. So it was just a little language slip-up, they meant to ask “do you prefer a sweet guy or a bad boy?”

C'mon, the question he heard was "Is German for basketball?" The interviewer failed at asking a question properly after addressing the guy sitting at his side. Then when asked about the question, he repeated only half the question. I hate Doucheton Beiber, but calling him stupid because he didnt hear a failed question, is just as stupid as the guy who failed at asking the question.
