Celebrity Apex Review: What We Loved & Hated

On our Celebrity Apex review we share with you what we loved and what we hated about the cruise.
We sailed on the inaugural US sailing out of Port Everglades in Florida and went to Cozumel, Mexico on this 4 night cruise. We were booked into a Celebrity Apex Infinite Veranda Cabin on the cruise.
The Celebrity Apex dining and bars on the ship were amazing. It was also our first time trying out the Celebrity Apex Thermal Suite. The Celebrity Apex theater is probably the best in the world, we were in love with it.

Was on Celebrity Apex with adult grandson for 'Best of Scandinavia' cruise June 25 - July 7, 2023; both of us would definitely sail on Apex again. I also wish there had been videos of Oceanview Cafe, Eden, the Theatre, Magic Carpet, and the Rooftop. Pictures are worth a thousand words, and I can attest to the descriptions of each area mentioned! We, too, appreciated the different entertainment options - not just in the theatre, but all over the ship. The Celebrity Apex band was phenomenal and enhanced every performance we saw. I'm a Senior Citizen who preferred the 'one main dining room', but acclimated just fine with the four smaller main dining rooms - Cosmopolitan (American), Cyprus (Greek), Tuscan (Italian), and Normandie (French). We dined in Cosmopolitan the first night, and then exclusively in Normandie the remaining evenings (unless we were on an excursion off the ship). We liked having the same wait staff every night, but being able to order from any of the four restaurant menus was a bonus we utilized numerous times. Also had a wonderful lunch in Eden. The food was delicious wherever we dined! We agree about how loud it is closing the bathroom door, but it was a minor annoyance at best. We had the upgraded internet package, and never had a problem with it. Another reviewer said there wasn't enough storage space. I'm an overpacker, and we didn't even use all of the storage areas available. I do wish they had commented on their Infinite Veranda. We had a Sunset Veranda (my favorite) with the old style balcony, and loved it. Don't believe I'd be happy with a balcony that could be locked closed. We'd like to commend the Captain and entire staff for providing us with an incredible voyage, and we hope to sail with them again soon!

Love to see you on Celebrity! We took our first Amtrak trip due to you two and your channel. We have been on many Celebrity Cruises and sailed on the Edge. It is a great experience.

We just returned from the Apex in Iceland and Ireland. The ship is very beautiful, cutting edge and the staterooms are very well designed. The only aspect of the ship we did not care for was the lido (Ocean Cafe) always seemed very crowded. We king of expected this on the cold weather section of the cruise, but even when it warmed up (77-82) in the southern section segment of the cruise, it did not noticeable improve. The rooftop garden they almost never had open and functioning, I think it was a staffing issue. Great Ship.

The Celebrity Edge has the same "noisy" bathroom door. When we wanted to close it quietly, we would turn the lock before closing the door. This would keep the door from banging into the frame.

Ill fault you on one point and I think we were on the same cruise. If you purchase the upgrade package including the internet you also get an offsetting shipboard credit which makes it a far better deal. We agree there really is no other ship like it and we are going back in January for a redux which we have never done before. See you on the new Wonder next year.

For the Magic Carpet - do you get a real chance to get in or is it too crowded? Has anyone else cruised on the Apex lately and has a different opinion about the internet?

? For you which ship would you recommend doing a transatlantic cruise? We are looking for some interesting ports as well as a ship that offers both quiet tasteful spaces and great food. We enjoy watching your informative and well delivered videos and respect your experience w transatlantic.

The thellasotherapy pools were discontinued on the Solstice class. The absolute best thellasotherapy pools were on the Century class ships, smaller and better. The Eden space is Celebrity's take on Royal Caribbean's Two70. IMO, Two70 may be better suited for shows that Celebrity tried to make interactive with Eden. I think the Magic Carpet looks like an eyesore on the ship. The theater is a big upgrade however tech is always evolving and soon enough, this type of theater will be offered on many newer class ships IMO. And about the gym, maybe it is great but I would move its placement so that passengers could get forward observation views. This is gone for regular passengers on this ship (one of the critical reasons why I don't like the Edge class ships) Food will vary ship to ship and sailing to sailing sometimes but the Edge ships have the facilities for a variety. The 4 MDR have the same food with a small section of unique to their theme dishes offered. But it may be possible to get any MDR restaurant's choices in any MDR. Overall, the Apex is a noisy for Celebrity ship due to the multi levels and placement for its major public areas (except The Club which is also double level). However, outdoors some quieter spots are possible.

Have you been on the Odyssey of the Seas this year? It sounds like they are very similar with the newest technology and unique entertainment venues.

That ship has way more options than the Edge class. The major shortcoming of the Edge class is it is light on lounges for music and dancing. I've cruise Celebrity since the 1990s and their older classes had lots of different types of lounges whereas the newer they get, the less lounges they have even though the ships get bigger. The "of the Seas" ships have plenty of lounges, lots of restaurants and a whole bunch more in them.

To not have the internet on your cruise isnt the end of the world - just enjoy the cruise and the bathroom door - not a big deal

I used a VPN and watched my DISH, MLB and listened to my SIRIUS Music. I didn't go on the cruise to watch TV either.

Just got off the Apex and was not impressed with the cabin….way too small not enough closet and drawer space for 2 ppl who like to overpack…the bathroom door slams close no matter how hard you try to quietly close the door…the nightlight in the bathroom was a good idea but not crazy about the single sink. The best entertainment was the captain…we really enjoyed his sense of humor…food was mediocre…the internet was unusable unless you wanted to upgrade to the more expensive package….the casino is non smoking which is a plus..
