A brief demonstration by MG The Future, scratching the surface of what Melodyne can do to assist with sampling, composing, and creating better instrumentals.
I talk about analyzing samples via melodyne and importing this data into FL Studio (can be done in any daw) and working towards interpolating the sample or creating your own idea.

I’ve returned to this video after seeing a video earlier today of the inventor of Melodyne. He has a 3D model of a wave file and throughout his life, he has studied sound within ways that it is possible to say that Steve Jobs and Apple were created to give the inventor the proper platform and not the other way around. They way he researches music as a 3D object versus 2D and the impact involved further confirms to me that we still do not recognize the power of music no matter how much we say that we love it! I have to get deeper in Melodyne just for the opportunities that I missed within my own music when I didn’t have the tools and resources much earlier. The melodies that were not created back in the day will appreciate the help the most lol 😂 Thanks for your strong archives!

The crazy thing is that ive had melodyne this whole time and thought it was amazing for vocals (you can de-ess by note!) but now you shed light on the fact that you can take almost ANY sample and match it with another... Pure genius.

This was very very helpful. I got melodyne essentials with Studio ONE but it's only monophonic which makes it not much better than all the other standard stuff out there. I'm glad I saw this video because I thought I needed studio to get the polyphonics but apparently I only need editor - which is half the upgrade price to studio. I was just gonna walk away. I can't justify that kind of money. But the upgrade to editor might be worth it while they have a half price sale. I already got SCALER and INSTACHORD based on your videos LOL.

I see you hinted on a major chord progression technique: mask notes for the scale, and skip every other scale note. that's why I don't use samples and tools that transpose chords up and down, b/c no scale has only major or minor chords.

I've been following what u been doing with Melodyne and its got me really interested. From what you're saying... getting the Studio version will have all the bases covered but just to start out, I really don't need Studio - Editor can get me where I want to go as a beginner? I use Mixed in Key and Odesi to help me find and manipulate keys in the samples but ur saying Melodyne can actually find progressions? Great teaching ur doing, Mahalo! 🤙🏾

Blaze Street editor lets you see the keys, polyphonic, I then use those to reverse engineer the progression. Tomorrow, my maschine master tutorial will demonstrate that for writing hit records. Tonight I might do similar one for my channel

@MGTheFuture
@MGTheFuture 6 жыл бұрын
I was using scale highlight. If you look up a piano scale online or something, every other key in that scale (when pressed) is a chord. There's some tricky parts about that, but generally, all I need was click in every other highlighted key in fl piano roll

MG The Future I just bought melodyne! what about more complex chords? Trying to extract some chords from tracks I like, but most of the time these chords are composed of small intricacies I couldn’t hear so thats make building the chord from the bass note a bit more complicated. It seems like melodyne does a good job with the bass note and the rest too but the chords are in the same frequency range as the vocals or other instruments so it makes it harder. Would you just spend a bit more time editing in melodyne before exporting to midi? Like just try to keep the notes where you can hear the organ for example and delete the rest? Thanks for your vids! Already bought scaler from your video;)
@RoyMaya
@RoyMaya 5 жыл бұрын
@@Venitius The more complicated it gets the harder it is for software to detect. Ultimately your ear is the most powerful tool you have. I'm fortunate to be able to figure out chords and melodies in minutes without having to rely on software to do it, but I understand not everyone can or wants to spend the time training their ears. These tools become really powerful when you actually know a little bit of theory, that way you can interpolate with your ear what the software can't detect.

I noticed there's a Melodyne sale on pluginboutique. Could you talk more about how Melodyne differs from Ableton Audio to Midi in a video? I have Melodyne Essential. Just seeing if it's worth upgrading to Editor.
@MGTheFuture
@MGTheFuture 5 жыл бұрын
Ableton only provides the notes. Melodyne, you can change the notes and hear it as audio. It also suggests scale. It also corrects tuning. Remember Melodyne is much more profound for audio manipulation, than midi. I just happen to use it as a producer, for midi. And of course how it integrates in S1...to find a tone of bass or a key of a vox. Very lit.
