To me minimal arrangement is one single instrument, and its way easier than following 59 instruments doing their own rhythms... I could never transition from a choir to a band, for example, i struggled immensely and eventually gave up. I have no problems harmonizing with a thousand voices :D but more than 1 instrument is killing me

Amy Winehouse was also swimming in these kinds of genres and styles, with soul influences and motown etc, where it sounded simultanously nostalgic and fresh because it was authentic and from the heart but also musically colourful and captivating, and so it is with Celeste, I think the comparison - or togetherness - is proper :) I also recommend Joy Crookes! (I love the already-mentioned Cleo Sol as well) And Jungle :D they go in other directions as well, but they're amazing - check out their Paris metro recorded concert thing
