I've watched the entire run, and I've been blown away by how skilled you are, congratulations on the record ! Something I've been wondering, it feels like you're clearing a lot of rooms (if not all rooms) thourgh sheer memorisation. Is it just an appearance ? How far would you say you've memorised each and every room (and especially the transitions) by doing them over and over again ?

Every room is done through memorisation. There are too many specific and intricate tricks in this game to improvise and a lot of the strats are very precise and require lots of dedicated practice. If you want a pretty extreme example then here is a video of me hitting one of the hardest strats over and over again: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bX-ZqoGHgJmYnas Not all strats will require this level of practice but every room is memorised and every room is practiced a ton.

@@Isaactayy Thanks for answering ! That's pretty much what I guessed, there are quite a few rooms where I was like "no way he sightread that", like the vertical one at 52:03. I feel it's one of the few drawbacks of zero-randomness games ; as they get more optimized, speedruns end up relying more on memorisation. It has been (and still is) a more and more prevalent issue with professional chess, notably. Still, I'm one of these people who like banging their hand against the same hurdle again and again, until I'm confident I can clear it first try consistently, so I like that kind of challenge as well ! It must feel great seeing all that practice come to fruition !

At 47:20, what's that jump he does on the spikes, to get to the crumbler?

It's a Spike Jump. Because of the way wind movement is calculated you can jump off the ground or a wall with spikes if wind is pushing you towards it. See the Tech section on the Celeste Wiki for more info.

yes but its a really tight input if you want to get it to save time as you have to do it on the way up from the spring bounce
