Oh man, oh man. This song will hold a special place in my heart for as long as I live. I spent the last two years of my life in a toxic work environment as an English teacher, staying in extra meetings where we did nothing important, working too many extra hours by doing nothing related to my profession and staying until very late printing tests and worksheets, all while I couldn't look after my ill fianceé in my corresponding free time. That game me several anxiety and panic attacks that I had to keep inside, since I needed that job badly, since I am the economic support of my home. One day, while browsing through the Switch eShop, I found Celeste and decided to give it a try after reading some reviews. The game was unlike anything I've ever played. I love platformers, so I enjoyed every aspect of it. The difficulty, the graphics, the plot, but mostly, the music was inspiring and it complemented the story perfectly. It made me realize that despite any difficulties we face, we can move on, and that all my efforts made me deserve a better work environment. So, weeks before the pandemic started, I used every inch of will power to find another school to work in, waking up two hours earlier to ride my bike and searching all over the internet for a better place, no matter if it paid less, I just wanted to leave that toxic place and have a better enronment. And interview after interview, I managed to land the position I am in now (I even had to fake a medical leave in order to be able to go into the job interviews and bribe a secretary so she could hide my formal outfit for an interview, haha!) Long story short, when I was called that I got a new job in the school I work right now, I talked to my boss to say "I quit, thank you very much." and once I was out, I probably had the best dopamine discharge in my life. I blasted "Reach for the Summit" and had a long long long victory lap on my bike. I don't have the best physical condition, but I rode around 15 kms that day! Right now, I am VERY happy in my current job, since I love teaching and I love every one of my students, and I will gladly teach a class using Celeste as some cool source of English example. Thanks Lena Raine for your amazing work, and thank you for extending this masterpiece (I am listening as I work, haha!) and thank you for reading such a long comment, you are a beautiful person :3

Wow, that's an insane coincidence. This story is more extreme than mine, and I'm not a teacher, but our situations are just too similar not to mention it. I may not be doing that victory lap on a bike right now, but I'm doing that victory lap in my heart.

And yet to this day we have people who think video games are bad for people and make them violent and terrible people even though they're all works of art that can really save a person's life when they're in a bad spot. Celeste is such a wonderful game

This is one of my favorite musical tracks in any video game. It is so invigorating and motivating. As somebody who’s not the best in hardcore platformers, I got my ass kicked a lot in the summit level of Celeste lol. But this music is incredibly empowering and uplifting, and encouraged me to keep going and see it through. It captures the spirit of the final level perfectly, and never sounds old nor repetitive. Lena did such a stellar job with the entire soundtrack really, but she capped things off STRONG by ending with this.

The cold is penetrating you to your core. The howling wind is relentlessly fighting your every step. The glaring sun hitting the ice is blinding you. Every thin breath you draw feels like it could be the last. Every cell in your body is screaming at you to stop, but then you see it. The peak. A warm sense of triumph washes over you from within. You've come farther, climbed higher, fought harder then anyone else. You begin to forget your pain. Your legs are moving on their own, then they stop. There are no steps left to take. The only thing left above you is the sky. The biggest sky you've ever seen. The entire Earth is beneath you. You feel as if you're the only person alive, but you're not lonely. You're at peace. Up here nothing else matters. The only breaks in the silence are the gentle whispers of the wind in the rocks below. Your racing thoughts are washed away. Only calm remains. That is why I reach for the summit. That is why I climb.

I would have taken a full loop of each of the seven sections (which wasn't included in the OST version) and extend each one to last about eight and a half minutes. That's closer to what you'd hear if you actually played through Chapter 7 in an hour. I may still do that, or upload each version separately.

@Nat_the_Chicken4 жыл бұрын
@@profsusansatsumas There's certainly no ban on doing it yourself. If you own the game for PC, it's not too hard to extract the music files (just look up FMOD .bank file extraction), and then you can play around with them to your heart's content in any old audio editor like Audacity. As long as you don't publish anything, you're fine!

I put this song on before I worked on a Science project assigned before Spring break. I had to write a LOT of stuff about 5 elements on the periodic table and the elements had to spell a word. I procrastinated until the last day of Spring break and did majority of the work in about an hour. I don't think I would've done that without this song playing. This is motivation in the form of a song and I LOVE it! Huge thanks to Lena Raine for making this masterpiece of a song. (btw if anyone's wondering the word my elements spelled was "Sonic" and I just finished the project as of writing this comment)
