Celestion SL600, Sugden A21 Signature, Aurender A100

Back in the 80s I was in San Diego. I went into a local stereo shop to find an equaliser, or something, to make my Bose sound better. They quickly pointed out that none of their equipment even had tone controls. They took me back to the listening room where there was a pair of Celestion LS600. Although I've never owned them they changed my life forever. Upon returning to Miami I found something more in my price range and just as eye-opening, the Spica TC50.

I have sl600 over 20 odd years now, they are uncolored and clinical and needs a high current amp to make them sing. ( UK )

Are the SL600s better than the SL6si's that you have in the background? My pops has a pair of SL12si's sitting in his basement... He's owned them for thirty-five years, and has never used them... :( I'm just curious how the SLXXsi models compare to the SL600s or SL700s. Cheers!

Much better. Same components but different cabinet made of aeorolam, aircraft industry metal. Still SL6 is not a slouch, fine speaker.

I feel very fortunate to own this beautiful set of speakers in a perfect 10/10 condition with the original box and stands. In my humble opinion, they were way ahead of their time, and it feels like other speaker companies are still trying to catch up with Celestion after 40 years since the SL600 was produced.

@@ysk249 I know this very well, I worked there. I own two pairs of SL600’s, SL700’s and Kingston..

@@dittonworks Do you know why they ceased the production of these amazing-sounding speakers? If Celestion had produced Spender BC-1, SP 2/3, or Harbeth Compact 7 size speakers, they could have successfully competed against other British speaker companies.

@@ysk249 Celestion did compete against those company’s in the 60’s/70/80 & 90’s. Celestion was bought along with Kef and the Celestion Hifi division was closed, Kef carried on in that area. Celestion still make guitar and P/A speakers to this day
