Agreed! I don't know how any artist can go out to perform a lipsync or prerecorded track and call it a concert. One thing I've noticed about latino music culture is that it sounds way better live than studio performed. I'm white buti love this song and this recording of it.

She told me that her parents took her to a Celia Cruz concert in a Houston ballroom when she was a little girl, She told me that Celia performed without a microphone with her band behind her, unreal.

My Mom and Dad would take me with them to the ballrooms in New York Celia and all the greats. I used to hate it. All of us kids would hang together in the corner and play and fall asleep. I probably went to over 10 of these ballrooms in the 1980s.

Soy vocalista de una banda de rock universitaria. Me fui un tiempo de mi ciudad y, ahora que he regresado y que la pandemia ha cesado, han vuelto a llamarme. Por supuesto, atendí al llamado: antaño, siempre que teníamos presentaciones y nos llamaban a pruebas de sonido previas a la presentación, siempre pensaba en Celia y en este vídeo. Podés tener al mundo rendido a tus pies en un estadio surafricano o en una tarima de una ciudad pequeña, pero esto se llama respetar a la audiencia. Prueba de sonido o no, se trata de dejarte la piel allí. Es una auténtica tristeza ver vocalistas e intérpretes instrumentales que, al saber que es una prueba de sonido, hacen más gala de mediocridad que de compromiso. A Celia le debo ese compromiso y espero sentirlo hasta el último día de mi vida, sea que logre tanto como ella hizo o no. Saludos desde Manizales, Colombia.

I saw this video for the first time about 2 months ago. Since that time, I have fallen head over heels in love with this woman. I have watched it many many times as well as the other videos. My current favorites are the live version of Bemba Colora andEl Yerberito Moderno. I saw Tito Puente a couple of times back in the 90's but regret never having known about let alone seen Celia live.
