That's right! The one I pulled only had 182k, just barely broken in. 😉

Hey just a word of advise from a lexus/Toyota certified technician, definitely replace/ rebuild the starter before you reassemble the intake plenum. That starter is the single worst thing about this glorious engine in my opinion. I had to do it on my ls400 and it is the most frustrating thing ever. Given your car will obviously be a little different I would just not ever want to do one of those with the engine still in the car again. Love the build was planning basically the same build just looking for a clean celica. Cheers

Thanks for the tip - stay tuned for Episode 5, I'll be rebuilding the starter! Cheers. :)

Scratch that, it'll be in Episode 6! Ep. 5 got too jam packed lol.

I came here to say exactly this! Had a 1990 LS400, and that starter is a definite problem.

Great build up and thanks for sharing. I'm doing the same for my 85 GTS, but I want to use a UZ/w58 bell housing because a faulty or leaking hydraulic throwout bearing scares me too much 😆

Nice , Gingium (KZbinr) has a similar build, but his is a pickup though . Love that 1UZ, love that build.

Looking good. I'm happy to see a dry battery in the car, they are great and don't spill. I'm going to mount the battery in the rear also once I find a battery box I like. Maybe try JIC lines for fuel and power steering. They are cheaper to have made up at hose shop

Sounds good! I'm going to try to see if I can make the OEM battery tray to work somehow - if not, I'll browse through Summit Racing for a good tray/box. Gonna go with a regular fuel line to work with the Dodge Caravan fuel filter, and I have no power steering to worry about thankfully. ;)

Great video!! My harness was pretty brittle on my 3SGE also but that just gives us an excuse for a custom harness :)

Hey man , Love the content ! I am in the forum Facebook page and I’m the one that’s building the 84 Celica GT drift project and I’m gonna do the same swap just wanted to know if you think the rear end can handle that much power from the stock 1uz
@TheKaFreaky4 жыл бұрын
if you have some fabrication ability, swapping a ford 8.8 solid rear end from an explorer is not to horrible and will hold tons of power and has limited slip and options for dual rear caliper/ disc brakes. just need it shortened and have the mounts custom fabbed. Thats what my intention is once i find a good car to buy.

that is if its a ra64 anyway obviously that wont do for a ra65.

The stock 6.7" has been shown to hold the stock power as long as you're not drifting. CELEXUS84 on the forum races his 1UZ swapped RA64 coupe in Lemons, and so far it's been robust for him. The Ford 8.8" is a great and relatively straightforward upgrade. :)
