Me: There is surely no way there is a proper guide for wiring an RA64 with a 1UZ swap. Celica man: Hold my copper.

“Give it a test by yoinking it.”
@twotone_ra65583 жыл бұрын
The route I’m going with is a bit different than yours since I’m going with a stand-alone ECU, but this is good information!
@winguard963 жыл бұрын
@@twotone_ra6558 the yoink is an industry-standard test, y'know. 🤨 Sounds good! One difference I can think of for the 1UZFE if you go standalone is that you'll need a different IACV stepper motor so that the ECU can properly control it.
@twotone_ra65583 жыл бұрын
@@winguard96 well, the 4age is WAY less complicated (I believe/hope) than the 1UZ, so the things I’m worried about with wiring is length, routing, and connecting the gauge cluster.
@winguard963 жыл бұрын
@@twotone_ra6558 it definitely is, there are way fewer sensors and going standalone simplifies a lot of the control circuits in place in the original car. Part Two of the wiring guide will help provide some insight into what connections you'll have access to under the dash, which could be helpful for your swap, so keep an eye out! 😄

Try not to ever cut the wires, u can destroy the brittle old plug and it doesn’t matter, it’s much more reliable to reuse the factory terminals. I think he couldn’t get the terminals apart is cause you need to remove the safety catches, then the wire and factory terminals will be ready to install in your new plug

@slowCarSalon Did you ever find a solution to haveing an idler in place of the pump?
@winguard962 жыл бұрын
Yes, I had XAT Racing make a custom billet aluminum idler pulley for me. I'll make a video on it later once the wiring issues are solved.

That one connector that you didnt know what it was, I think its for excessive radio static noise.
@winguard963 жыл бұрын
Good call, it's the noise filter for the injectors!
@davew9258 Жыл бұрын
It’s a noise suppressor, the injectors use a really high frequency signal that you would hear through the speakers, it’s so annoying u couldn’t drive the car in most cases. This suppressors neutralize the frequency

@winguard963 жыл бұрын
You'll find differences between model years. 1984 and 1985 will definitely not be exactly the same, 1983 and 1984 may be very similar. But between the same model year RA64 and RA65, there will not be any changes.

@@winguard96 Hey man any update to the project lately? How many miles were on your 1UZ when you got it from the junk yard? I'm still looking for an engine for my Celica, and I saw a 1991 Lexus LS400 with minor front passenger side collision with 171k miles. I was thinking that anything under 200k should be ok, but what do you think? Is that too high for the swap?
@winguard962 жыл бұрын
No updates currently as I am handling other life priorities. The engine has 182k, which isn't a small amount, but should be fine for these motors. Side impact donor vehicle sounds fine, there's a good chance the motor is okay.
@jiaweizhang41032 жыл бұрын
@@winguard96 I totally understand the life priority part. not to mention this is a HUGE project! Thanks for the advice. I'll see if I can get the car and pull the engine then. Looking forward to your next video! Take care!
