As a pagan witch I'm so glad that you mentioned pagan traditions but its actually majority of Christmas traditions come from Paganism/Yule! Ex: the trees, mistletoe, and lights used to ward off evil spirits. Simmer pots to bring joy and life into the home. the star on top of the tree for protection(its basically a pentacle). Bonfires to bring light to the darkest time of year. Gift giving. And so much more!

There’s TONS of things online and in old books saying all sorts of stuff. They even have an entire thing about Santa and shamans and the hallucinogenic mushroom used a LONG time ago 😅 I’ve seen and read SO MANY theories on Christmas that I stopped counting and stopped trying to learn them all… because people are just saying what they want to be true at this point 😅. My opinion? ITS CHRISTMAS ♥️ believe what you want, but never say that anything is %100 true.

That explains the silver sixpence added to Christmas pudding here in the UK. We also have steak and kidney pudding, and black pudding is basically just pig's blood, oatmeal, pork fat, onions and plenty of spices and seasonings. Not all our puddings are sweet. :)

This video made me realize that I don't celebrate Christmas, I celebrate Jul (or Yule?) Actually in the nordics we still celebrate yule and not christmas. On the 24th of December is Yule Eve (christmas eve) and personally I go to church cause of the music, I am an atheist soooo.... I dont really belive everything the priest is saying. But Sweden (where I live) is the least religious country in earth, so not many people go to church on christmas/Yule. We don't really have many of the American christmas traditions and the christmas tree thing wasn't actually surprising for me haha. I think I've heard it before, we have some similar things on Easter too. Children dress up as easter-witches and knock on doors to collect candy. During Easter we also do big bonfires to scare away evil entities. I don't know what this comment is but hahaha
