LYRICS
(Ralph Tresvant:)
Lonely fear lights up the sky.
Can't help but wonder why.
(Ralph Tresvant/Randy Travis:)
You're so far away
(Celine Dion:)
There, you had to take a stand,
In someone else's land,
Life can be so strange.
(Peter Cetera:)
I wish we never had to choose
To either win or lose,
That we could find a way.
(Bobby Brown:)
(we could find a way)
(Brenda Russell:)
But I, won't turn my again.
(Bobby Brown:)
(turn my back again.)
(Brenda Russell:)
Your honor I`ll defend.
(Warrrant:)
So hurry home, till then.
(Luther Vandross:)
(Till Then)
Chorus:
Stand Tall. Stand Proud!
Voices that care are
crying out loud.
And when you close
your eyes tonight,
Feel in your heart how our
love burns bright.
(Luther Vandross:)
(Hurry Home)
(Garth Brooks/Kathy Mattea:)
I'm not here to justify the cause,
Or to count up all the loss.
That's all been done before.
(Nelson Twins, Gunnar and Matt Nelson)
Just can't let you feel alone,
When there's so much love at home
We're sending out to you.
(Michael Bolton:)
All the courage that you've known,
The bravery you've shown,
Clearly lights the way.
(Pointer Sisters:)
We Pray.
(Little Richard:)
To make the future bright.
(Pointer Sisters:)
To make the wrong things right.
[Rap:]
(Will Smith:)
Right or Wrong
We're all praying
you'll remain strong
That's why we're all
here and singing along.
Chorus:
(Hey Hey)
Stand tall. Stand Proud!
Voices that care are
crying out loud.
And when you close
your eyes tonight,
Know in your heart how our
love burns bright.
(Bobby Brown:)
Voices that care are
crying out loud.
Chorus:
And when you close your eyes tonight
Feel in your heart how our
love burns bright.
(Kenny G Saxophone solo)
(Celine Dion:)
You are voice.
You are the light
Chorus:
Stand tall. Stand Proud!
Voices that care are
crying out loud.
Luther Vandross:
(Are crying out loud, oooh)
Chorus:
And when you close
your eyes tonight,
Feel in your heart how our
love burns bright.
Chorus:
Stand tall. Stand Proud!
Voices that care are
crying out loud.
And when you close
your eyes tonight,
Feel in your heart how our
love burns bright.
(Warren Wiebe:)
You are the voice and
the guiding light,
Feel in your heart how our
love burns bright.
"Voices That Care" is a 1991 song written by David Foster, Linda Thompson and Peter Cetera and recorded by a supergroup of popular musicians, entertainers and athletes. The single and supporting documentary music video was intended to help boost the morale of U.S. troops involved in Operation Desert Storm, as well as supporting the International Red Cross organization.

@@josehinojosa9752 This is true although for many it was the first time we ever connected the voice to the face. I had no idea who she was when I saw this video and as good as she sings "Where Does My Heart Beat Now" is pretty garbage and I turned it off every time it came on the radio. She is one of those singers who transcends the music she sang, which was really never that good. Just a little too middle of the road pop, especially for the early 90s when grunge took over the world. I still feel that way. I would rank her as a top 10 singer of all time but I can't name one song I actually like.

@@Swahili14 Mariah's a coloratura soprano. She has an agile voice so it suits the vocal acrobatics that her songs demand. But she's not really a belter the way Whitney or Celine was/is. Still Mariah was no less amazing. There were many female singers with powerful voices in the late 80s and early 90s, but what set the 3 of them apart from everyone else was their beautiful tone.

My very first time seeing Celine Deon sing a song was in this video. I actually was watching the "Making of Voices That Care". Celine sang her part and asked. "Was that ok?" I was floored, because her voice was just amazing and traquil. Right at that time I said, "This woman is going to be an incredible singer." It just wonderful to see how far she has come since this video. I was 100% right though. I was just shocked that she questioned how amazing her voice was.

As a vocal music teacher back then, I led our 90 student elementary chorus perform this amazing tribute. Our art teacher made the 'voices that care' banner with her students which was displayed above the chorus at the concert. We then had this beautiful banner high up on a wall in the music room. Of my entire 27 years of teaching music, this experience was one of the most memorial and heart warming, I hope it touched the performers and the audience as much as it touched me. As I watched this video it brought back so many memories..

She had many great and iconic hits in the 90s. She was and still is well-respected amongst her peers and amongst younger artists who came after her. She was part of the Vocal Trinity with Mariah and Whitney. Who said she was overlooked? To be fair all of them started fading after the 2000s. Mariah had a couple of hits particularly during the Emancipation of Mimi era but nothing like what she had in the 90s. And she also frequently struggled with vocal issues. Whitney lost her battle to drugs and could not revive her career. Celine was actually the smartest among them. By doing her Vegas residency, she actually made more money than Mariah touring the world. She also wanted to focus more on her family and take care of her ailing late husband.

In addition to wondering why Warren Wiebe (the last solo voice in the song...and singer of the original demo) wasn't a star, and in addition to being deeply impressed by David Foster (whose music I already loved, even not knowing he was the _Hitman_ behind it), my main memory of is of Celine Dion...and that mini-bridge before the final round of choruses. This was our 5th grade elementary graduation song. Still remember how I would listen to this song on my Walkman the night before our last day of school, and was tearing up for what would be my last memory of elementary and probably not going to see my friends at the time. Not knowing if they would also be attending the same middle school I would be going to also. The innocence and fear of the unknown is very intense as a child that very often is overlooked and is a part of our development on becoming the person we truly are born to be. Listening to this song again, puts things into perspective and can truly understand why our school decided to go with this song for such a send off onto what's to come. We need this type of human compassion to continue to be shown to the younger generations to come so that we know and understand that those who are guiding us believe in us and believe we all, care.

I don't know why people are singling the singers out by whom can sing the best. Apparently they all were picked for their amazing voices. Ugh. I remember singing this in middle school. Still brings tears to my eyes. Beautiful sung and put together!

I sang this in elementary school in 1992. This is the first time I've heard it since then, but for some reason I've always remembered the chorus. Funny how humans can remember the stupidest stuff when they try not to. Yet when I try to study for my exams I can't remember sh*t. Except this song of course.

I remember singing it in elementary school, too...however, when the day came to sing it...I think it was the last day or something, I wasn't there.

In 7th grade (1999-2000) we sang this song in my middle school show choir! I loved that class! All the "cool kids" did chorus/show choir instead of Band or Home Ec lol. We performed this song that year and I loved it so much. It's even a million times more iconic 20 years later seeing soooo many famous icons! God I love 80s & 90s nostalgia

This was the song that made me discover Celine Dion who then blew up in America after this. Saw her sing at the Opening Ceremonies of the Olympics tonight in Paris so made me come watch this. Damn she is so young here. 33 years ago. Crazy But Mike Tyson stole the show. lol

I only wished if this song would have been included in the Princess Diana tribute album for her charity work. Celine, Peter Cetera and Michael Bolton made the best impact in this song. Diana was also our "Voice and Shining Light".🙏🙏. BLESS HER ❤❤.
