The pianist is Scott Price, Celine’s musical director since 2015. No doubt he has immense pride in not only performing again along side her, but seeing her triumph in such a spectacular return to the stage. This performance for me is the absolute best live performance in my lifetime. I cannot imagine another performance that measures up to this in so many ways and for so many reasons. For Celine personally health-wise and considering the song’s meaning with her loss of Rene; for the city of Paris for whom she sang this song in tribute to the victims of the bombings of 2015; and here, a message to the world of enduring love. Her voice is amazing, but hearing her sing in her native tongue is nothing short of breathtaking - so much passion and power in her voice. Thank you for this gift, Celine. You are so loved and treasured by so man.

If Paris 2024 invited Celine Dion, it's because, first she's iconic, but also, her family comes from France, and she was discovered on French TV at 14 years old. Paris is everything for her. She's French by heart and blood as much as Canadian.
@singtweetypie2 ай бұрын
Her French ancestors came to Canada in 1634 - almost 400 years ago. Through those ancestors she is related to Madonna, Xavier Dolan, Jack Kerouac, Alanis Morissette, Justin Bieber, Justin Trudeau, Ryan Gosling, Hillary Clinton, Angelina Jolie and Camilla (Shand), Queen of the UK! Her husband/manager René Angélil discovered her when she was 12 (1980), and she appeared on CDN TV and had a French language album in Canada in 1981, two years before she appeared on TV in France in 1983. In 1984 she sang for Pope John Paul in Montreal. Her 1988 Eurovision win in Dublin Ireland at age 20 brought her to an international audience. The world (and France) loves Celine Dion, and Celine loves them right back, but she is French Canadian through and through!

Her family did not come from France. Her parents were born in Canada as well. She speaks French because she was born in an area of Quebec that incorporated French as well as English speaking citizens but Celin sings in other languages too, German, Italian and a couple others. Rene was born in Canada as well. Being French TV was carried in most other provinces as well she was well known quite quickly across Canada. Actually it’s Canada that was everything for her, Renes funeral and burial was in Canada and it’s where Celin will be buried too. They also married in Canada She has a house just outside Montreal, and another one in Charlemagne that her mom lived in, Celin comes home a lot being most of her family lives here

Celine is the most famous Francophone singer in the world and she is famous in English as well. Almost everyone on earth knows who Celine Dion is and so that is why she was chosen to sing one of France's most beloved songs. She can sing it perfectly in French and she is an international star. Also even if the French sometimes tease people in Quebec and other French speaking Canadians for their accent, they also refer to Francophones in Canada as their cousins. I've heard that many times traveling in France. Add all these factors together and that is why she was chosen and why people in France were quite happy with it. Also she did a great job.

She is the best-selling francophone artist of all time and two of her French albums are the no1 and no2 best selling francophone albums of all time. Not to mention that she still holds the no1 selling album in France and her colabs with JJG and other French artists from decades ago still remain very popular in France.

Lara Fabian is Belgian btw. So still not French. As you said she totally killed it. I'm not that big of a Celine fan, but being from Montreal, seing her ON the Eiffel tower sing this song made me weep.

Visiblement je me suis trompé. Et pour info, lara fabian est belge 😩
