The only thing I am confused about is... what is an aster in this context?
@sanskritiagarwal6044
@sanskritiagarwal6044 3 жыл бұрын
An aster is the smaller fibre that arises from the centrioles during late prophase along with the spindle fibres. There are 2 asters (one at each pole) and you'll find them only in animal cells since plant cells do not have centrioles.

Bhagyashree Patil Plant cells lack centrioles, however, they are still able to form a mitotic spindle from the centrosome region of the cell just outside of the nuclear envelope. They go through the stages of mitotic division as do animal cells-prophase, metaphase, anaphase and telophase, followed by cytokinesis.

Mam I have one doubt.....that you said ,the spindle fibres are not actually formed from centriole it is appear to be form like that...due to the spindle shaped spindle fibre....... But in another video of the chapter 'cell :the unit of life' You are saying that centriole's function is to produce spindle fibre formation.... Can you plz explain..?

Gautam Khanna Centrosome is the summation of two centrioles and centrosphere. Centrosphere is a perinuclear material which is around the centrioles.

Spindle fibre in plant cells are formed by assembly of tubulin monomer which join to form polymers and these polymers are the threads which are called spindle fibre.
