This series is animated by DevilArtemis, his content started off as his own Cell vs series, and over the years it grew into this style you see now, he also pokes fun at himself adopting the Cell Vs idea with jokes like "poor man's TeamFourStar". He still makes videos for his channel, with Cell and Kermit as part of the main cast, but he also does animation for a few Death Battles with his first contribution being Ganondorf vs Dracula, and Jason vs Michael to name a few

It is such a shame that Radiz and Nappa were never a thing again in the original show.. there is so much potential. Even the legendary MasakoX who voiced Goku in DBZA made great theory videos about topics the show never took. - What if Vegeta were send to earth instead of Goku? - What if Radiz & Nappa turned good? - What if Goku had a bigger sister ? (like Celipa from the Bardock movie.. she was cool) And also my favorite and we need this so bad. - "What if ...we re-wrote Dragon Ball Super?" Like the power of the Saiyans. The Potential has no limits.

Devilartemis (the animator of this series) has his own channel where Cell gets into all these crazy shenanigans with Kermit the Frog (not making that last bit up😂). You should totally check his stuff someday cuz you can totally see his influence on the humor of HFIL (especially in Zarbon😂) P.D.: At 1:10, the Japanese text on King Yemma’s list is actually the Japanese translation of “Never Gonna Give You Up”

Not sure if you knew this, but the reason they call it HFIL is because in the original Japanese version, they straight up said Hell on the ogres shirts, but in America, they censored it by erasing parts of the letters and calling it the Home For Infinite Losers. And TFS ran with it.

Let's go HFIL! Also if it hasn't been explained or it's been a while HFIL was the Censorship for HELL when DBZ was brought over to America and they thought the concept of Hell and Dieing was too much for kids, so they changed it to HFIL(Home for infinite losers) and instead of "Dieing" they say "phase to another dimension". And yeah don't worry Raditz isn't That important, he's only been in a few episodes in the anime, a few manga characters, and basically forgotten for the rest of the series despite being Goku's Brother

Raditz is Goku's brother. He shows up in Season 1 and gets referenced in passing every now and then. In the original show, he really does just show up, reveal that Goku is a Saiyan, fight Goku and Piccolo, die, and then become an inciting incident for Vegeta and Nappa to go to earth via being dead. The best way to summarize him in DBZA is a Vegeta quote from Season 2: "I don't know what this Yamcha is, but it sounds just like Raditz."

It's funny for the Abbreviation since this was the name for Early dubs of DBZ when it first came to the states and not by Funimation. There are a TON! of edits like this from the "kind of makes sense" to "wtf were they drinking". Like they changed beer in a glass to foamy water. I am not joking.

The thing between Zarbon and Cell is partially an inside joke. one of the animators helping out on these is also a youtuber called DevilArtemis who does his own Cell series *but doesn't voice this Cell*, in their series there is an on-going joke where Zarbon (even if not on screen) moans whenever someone says something even remotely sexual.

Raditz had had more screentime in video game flashbacks than he ever had in the main series. HIFL while being the thing that allows Cell to utterly trash the fourth wall, also give context that a lot of time DB vanilla simply glosses over or straight up misses. It's taken quite literally forty years for Gohan, Piccolo, Videl and Vegeta to get the kind of characterization they have currently.

MasakoX, the voice of Goku in DBZA, his favorite character is Raditz. He explained this is because when he'd called his younger brother to congratulate him on his wedding day using the voice of Goku his sister in law mentioned that since MasakoX was the older brother he'd technically be Raditz in that situation and it kinda stuck ever since. He has a lot of "What If" dragonball stories, including a podcast series "Revelation F" that picks up on the space adventures of a reformed Frieza, but his longest running series is "What If Raditz Turned Good?"

Raditz is Goku's brother. Goku hit his head not long after coming to earth, basically giving him amnesia of his Saiyan heritage and basically makes him the innocent, sweet person we see in the anime. Goku sacrificed himself to hold Raditz in place while Piccolo managed to kill them both by piercing them with his special beam cannon (goku's first death). After dying and appearing before king Yemma, he was allowed to keep his body in the afterlife because he was such a good guy when he was alive. He was able to travel Snake Way to meet King Kai and train under him in order to prepare for Vegeta and Nappa's arrival on earth, since Raditz's scouter is also a communication device that basically informed Vegeta of the use of dragon balls for a wish. Goku learned the kaio ken (strength multiplying technique) and the spirit bomb from king kai. The spirit bomb asks for energy from every living being on the planet in order to collect and make an attack that is stronger than any one person could achieve on his own, is the idea.

if no one mentioned this... in the original localization of dragonball, the dubbing company wanted to censor "Hell" so in the episodes where goku fell off snake way and met these two ogres, the the company did a quick edit to change their HELL shirts into HFIL shirts and called it the Hall of infinite losers. it's somehow dumb, hilarious, and genius

Heya, guys! I've really been enjoying your reactions to DBZA, and I wanted to suggest another series (not Abridged) that I can basically guarantee that you'll love. It's called Bluey. Ostensibly, it's a show for young children, but in actuality? It's a show specifically for adults that is also for children. Each episode is only about 7 minutes long, but I've never gone from smiling to laughing hysterically to actually crying from an emotional gut-punch that quickly. It's intelligently written, and I think you'll both love the humor and the deeply emotional moments, both. I highly suggest you Let's Watch it, but even if you don't, I suggest you watch it on your own time, together. It's most _definitely_ worth your time.

The funny thing about Raditz is that you wouldn't know anything more about him from the OG series than you do from here lmao. Toriyama killed him off as quickly as possible & never brought him back at any point because of his hair. It was way too difficult to draw constantly, so he scrapped him. This is an unfortunate trend of Toriyama's; draw a really cool villain, give them far too much detail, & immediately regret it because he is a lazy ass.

9:47 No, there really is nothing more to learn about him. He shows up, says he's Goku's brother, sets up the Saiyans (and Frieza to a smaller extent) and then just dies. You'd think the older brother of the main character would be a bigger player in the story going forward or least get a passing mention, but nope. This is how Toriyama writes, does whatever he likes at the moment. Also, HFIL is a real thing in like one of the earliest U.S. dubs of Z. They tried real hard to censor lots of stuff like dying and hell. For some reason they went the extra mile and rather than cut the filler episode with Goz and Me, they digitally changed "HELL" on their shirts to "HFIL".

I think you should react to Super Mario Bros Z at some point. It's basically a crossover of Mario and Sonic, with a DBZ-style plot and fights. It's one of the most classic and beloved sprite-animation series on the internet, and even influenced other animators, like some of the guys that have done Death Battle and Monty Oum (the creator of RWBY). There are actually 2 iterations of the series, with the original getting cancelled 8 episodes in, and a reboot that began in 2016, but is currently only 2 episodes, with a third in production. I'd recommend watching the original, then the reboot.

It's a shame about Raditz really. He shows up only in the first episodes of Dragonball, tells us he's Goku's brother, is vastly more powerful than Goku and Piccolo when he first debuts, introduces us to a much larger scale of storytelling in DBZ, and then gets killed in less than five episodes and never mentioned again after the Saiyan/Vegeta saga. There's not much to "know" about Raditz. TFS didn't give him that much interesting personality because they were still new to abridging when he was relevant to their series, and he wasn't around long in the main series anyway. What we got from his limited screen time (or could otherwise infer) is that Raditz is a bit cowardly. The reason he's so weak compared to Vegeta and Nappa seems to be because he doesn't put himself in harms way on missions, so he doesn't get many zenkai boosts like they did. Despite his cowardice, he's also kind of full of himself. He was bragging a lot about being an elite (I think that his power level would make him low class as far as Saiyans go...) and part of a superior warrior race. He also had a cunning streak though. That's probably why Vegeta kept him around (and he was one of Vegeta's two *known* living subjects for a long time).

Sadly for being Goku's brother, Raditz is one of the most under utilized character in the whole show. He's introduced, killed and never even really mentioned again. If you want to have more of a taste of what could have been. You have to look toward things like explorative media, like MasakoX's channel, that produce fun little What If stories on Dragon Ball. Tally ho!
