Maksims Skibickis started playing cello at the age of 8. He has graduated from Babīte Music School where his teacher was Anita Roze and currently Maksims is the first-course student at Emīls Dārziņš Music School (E.Testeļeca class).
He has participated in competitions such as the Latvian State Competition (1st place), Karlis Davidov's International Cellist Competition (1st place), and the JSfest International competition in Finland (1st place).
Maksims has also received a prize from the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Latvia. He has also taken part in various masterclasses with such cellists as Nicholas Jones and Alexei Cropotv.

Sounds terribly. It's certainly not the musician's fault but the composition is just awful.

I think shostakovich's compositions are meant to convey pain and struggle so they sound grotesque and violent.

The good artist is not the one who makes everyone like his music, but the one who manages to transmit what is desired to a large majority, the style does not have to be liked by everyone.

Of course you are being sarcastic about Dmitri Shostakovich based on Mischa's comments. I'm not a particular fan of Shostakovich any way. But, about Shuman Concert, a total different story, one of my favorites as Mischa's also said. I wish, Maisky had more time to teach this kid rather than talk so much (and don't get me wrong Mischa Maisky is my favorite cellists of these days). But I think he helped very little, if any thing,m to this student whom I agree, did every thing wring. He was even struggling and did horrible with the spiccato.
