It is more reactive than copper hence will release more electrons than copper hence it's negatively charged

Yes, for both Leclanche and dry cells, we can either use Carbon rod or Graphite rod as our anode(positive terminal/electrode). But if asked, I'll advise you to give 'Carbon' because it's the one which is commonly used. Thanks Nicholas for such a good question, it shows that you are doing more research 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏.
