Doing an online CELTA often means you're left guessing about small things that a teacher in the room with you would always be able to help with. This video did a great job of giving some contextual boundaries to the assignment. It feels a lot more manageable when someone tells how many parts and what you need to do for each you in plain language. Thanks for the great video!

I benefitted greatly from this as I am going to start my CELTA next week. Thank you so much for being straightforward and to the points. I listen to the video from the beginning to the end without feeling bored. I highly appreciate your efforts.

Pretty informative, detailed and relevant for CELTA candidates. The layout of assignments and their requirements are really challenging. So, our best bet is prior preparation the thing that you are really helping us in it. Keep it up

Thank you so much for this, Jo. I truly struggled with this task the first time I took CELTA (& withdrew for fear of failing). Your video is so informative and helpful! I’m feeling more confident to go for my second attempt

That’s great 😀 If you’re feeling wobbly and want to go into CELTA feeling more prepared, my CELTA preparation bundle will really help www.elt-training.com/bundle/complete-celta-prep

Thanks, Jo! I've purchased the bundle and find it super practical and easy to understand. I really admire how you simplify the rules! By the way, you mentioned that for this assignment, we should get the student to write something. Could you recommend what they could write about? How long should it be? Thanks, Jo!

I'm having trouble with this assignment! I know the problems my learner has made but it's choosing which activities are suitable which is confusing me.

hello, I will have my CELTA 2 weeks later in Shanghai China. I have finished three recommended books. Your videos are very useful for me to prepare the teaching practice which is my weak side. I also worry the writing assignments a little. There are four but your videos just cover three, so when will you upload your fourth video about the final writing assignment.

Hi Jo! Thanks for the lesson! In the video you've specified that we don't need to re-invent the wheel. For me personnaly, I feel much more deeper connection with the student and involvement in the process of teaching, when I try to sort of 'create' my own material. But it takes up too much time...Do you you think there is a balance here that the teachers should look for? When you combine materials that are accessible throughout the internet with the product of your creativity?

Anyone please, Give me a direct downloading link for the book mentioned above in the video ( Learner English )???? Thanks in advance.
Thank you. This video is very helpful. By any chance, do you have videos on Korean learners? What mistake they make, etc?
@elttraining8 жыл бұрын
+Kay Song Hi there - thanks for the nice feedback - I'm afraid I don't know of any particular videos on Korean learners but I'm sure that there will be stuff out there. If you find anything useful, feel free to post a link here. Good luck with it :)

Hi Andy, thanks so much for the examples. That's so true about zz. My dad can't say it. Your examples help a lot! Good luck in doing Celta. One of the writing assignments in Celta is evaluating a learner. So if you get a Korean student, you'll do great! If you need any advice once you start, feel free to contact me if you need. :)

Hi there. I loved your videos, I truly appreciate your efforts on youtube. You have helped me so much on my own CELTA journey. I was wondering if you have a few moments to help me decide what are the 'names of the structures' of [he must understand Spanish] and [workers must obtain permission]. I would say they are both called 'present simple modal'. Is that correct? Your sincerely. Julie
@elttraining9 жыл бұрын
Adamson Lion Hi there. Modals don't really have a tense as such. They're usually identified by their function (what they do, eg obligation, deductions etc). Grammatically, these are both modals followed by the bare infinitive of the verb, though, not the present simple. The way to check this is to put a 'he/she/ it' into the subject. If the verb changes (I go/ he goes) it's the present simple. If it doesn't (I must go he must go) then it's the bare infinitive. Hope this helps :)

elttraining brilliant, thank you so much and I ask God to bless you more. I never realised that before about infinitives. Is it correct to say that in the example phrases I gave you in my first comment, that the time reference is defined for bare infinitives as timeless or can it be present and future?
@elttraining9 жыл бұрын
Adamson Lion It's a bit difficult to know without more context - eg 'He must understand Spanish' could be deduction (Because he lived in Spain for years) or obligation (Because he is going to have a job with Spanish speaking people). It will depend on the context, so look to that and the time reference should become clear. Good luck!
@adamsonlion87339 жыл бұрын
elttraining This is the context of [He lived in Spain for 20 years. He must understand some Spanish.] I would say the time reference here is the present, would you agree? last example sentence was [Workers must obtain permission before entering the manager's office.] I'm understanding the time reference here to be the present and future but I become unsure and start thinking maybe it's timeless, would you share your opinion.
@roa726311 жыл бұрын
There is a spelling mistake in the presentation: You have one 'r' in 'interference' NOT 2 the way you have presented "Interferrence"!!!! That is in min 8:16.

More than likely a typo.

This is really helpful as always Jo, thank you! You do a fantastic job. In the spirit of focusing on the learner, I would also like to recommend this resource grammar.yourdictionary.com/spelling-and-word-lists/misspelled.html for anyone else like me who had to think twice about whether "interference" was spelled correctly or not in the presentation! Although "interference" is not on this list of common misspellings, there are many more very useful tips for other words. Maybe it will help to remember that an extra "r" interferes unnecessarily with the word "interference?" Good luck with your assignments everyone!
