3 Things to avoid: 1. Less TTT - teacher talking time 2. grading your language according to the level of students. 3. Too much planning for the first lesson You may thank me by giving likes. Good Luck

Avoid NOT grading your language. That is what the video says.

Great advice! I just finished my CELTA training in Zürich - It was really intense, but a highly eye-opening and positive experience overall! I found that limiting TTT helps immensely :)

CELTA Helper TV LOL no worries. My CELTA is officially in May next year. So I have some time. I am so grateful for your content. I even paid for a Udemy online class that helps you get Pass A in CELTA. Got the text books they use in the course and am ready to devour the material before May. I will let you know how it goes. It will cost me $2200 US so I don’t just want to pass I want to get Pass A. Get my moneys worth out of it. 😀

@@JustJes10 good stuff. Could you tell me, what do you think of the Udemy course by Keewhan Kim? I have not used it but am not sure whether to recommend it to readers/viewers. Cheers

CELTA Helper TV I am 12% through the course by Keewhan Kim. Just finishing up the first part. I’m off to Poland for the month of September and may complete most of the course on the plane on my trip to ward off boredom. I will send you an email about my review. I hope it will help your other learners.

It was too avoid trying to do too much in one lesson. Just be realistic about what you can achieve in the time you have for that lesson. 👍

So let me understand during the course no training is given to the studens, I was going to try to do the CELTA in July of this year but if I understand there will be no training given so how will I know how to make a lesson plan or give a lesson. I teach online one to one and use pre made lesson plans. So it seems for most students it is a total waste of time unless there is training given, but you have not indicated that training is given also other former students have said that there is no training, this means it is simply an assesment course nothing more.
@CELTAHelper4 жыл бұрын
Hi Paul. No, training is indeed given on the CELTA but it's very much expected that you try to complete the tasks with minimal input then improve based on feedback. You will also get lots of input into language teaching and managing the classroom etc.
@UzairSpears Жыл бұрын
@@CELTAHelper Paul is right; there is no training given! I took the CELTA with a horrible school, 'Stafford House London,' and they were awful; I left the course because it was confusing and the tutor was terrible and biased. I lost 1400GBP. Unfortunately, I need the certificate, so I registered with another school and will start tomorrow. Hopefully, there will be training and good communication, at least. Thanks for the videos CELTAHelper. I need to learn these terms; they were not given to us in my previous awful CELTA course.

thank you so much for all the information, actually I am interested in taking the course but my english is modest (non native speaker and IELTS 6.5), I do believe that I am motivated to improve my english skills, I was teaching the last few years but not english, now I want to experience teaching in English, in some how combining to things that I love english and teaching. please can you give me any advice? thank you again
@CELTAHelper4 жыл бұрын
Hi there. Well, I suppose it is about focusing on your weaker areas in your IELTS band scores to bring them up. While you do that, start to think about how you'd explain the points you are learning to others who are of a lower level than you (perhaps 4.0). You can then offer to teach friends via Zoom for practice to see how well you know the points and if you enjoy it. Stick with it and good luck!
