Thank you for sharing this wonderful album! I played Celtic music with a small band and Christmas produced some of our best concerts for ten years! In the Appalachian Mountains of my mother's people, this music was brought to the Colonies from the British Isles, those of our Celtic/Anglo forebears - Scots/Irish/Welsh and Cornish/English folk, and intermixed with Pennsylvanian Dutch/German/Swiss folk, and other immigrants like the Huguenot French -- yet the sound of Celtic melody and wistfulness is still retained to this day in popular Country and Folk music across North America.

@@lordoftheales The 'Appalachian dulcimer', as it is popularly called today, originated in Europe. It is played on the lap and strummed. It is, or was, used in Celtic music occasionally by Alan Stivell & Gwendal. English folk groups such as Fairport Convention and Steeleye Span also included it in their albums in the 60's & 70's. Sometimes you can even hear the dulcimer in Medieval Music. The hammer dulcimer is a wood frame 'box' with strings tensed & these are struck with small, thin wooden 'mallets' producing a sound somewhere between a piano & a harpsichord. On utube I've only found 3 albums with the dulcimer & there's also a woman who plays it beautifully while the hammer dulcimer abounds !!! Listen to Fairport Convention's beautiful rendition of The Flowers of the Forest & this is where I first heard the dulcimer !!! Highly recommended
