Fifty years ago I left my love in Ireland to build a log cabin with two stories and a wrap around porch. This was for my true love and I would spend our years. She was going to sell her home and we would marry and bring her to America. Five months and hundreds of dollars on long distance calls and we set the date. Four days till the wedding and I couldn’t wait. I got my flight out a day early and went to marry my best friend for life. She was everything in a lady that walked the earth. The couple that bought her home was their and when I asked if they knew where she was the lady started crying and her husband told me she was hit by a drunk driver and passed away. Her family was at the hospital when I got there. I paid for her funeral and stayed for her to be laid to rest. I sold the log cabin because I had built it for her. It was what she wanted. The contractor bought the land and cabin. She would sing this song from some movie she had seen on the television. I’m from Texas in America and country music was my choice. But I loved the way she sang the song. I’ve never told anyone about her. She is a special place in my heart and in heaven so I know I will see again. SEMPER FIDELIS
