Jack was 29 when he made his International debut approaching his 30th birthday.

Giles says the same things about today's Irish team cuckoo land. Plus Jack inherited a lot of good players who underachieved under both Giles and Hand. Not only that he was not afraid to exploit the Granny rule and had notice in all the dressing rooms in England - asking for players of Irish ancestry. Would another manager have done that?

Yes Ireland had good players back then but Jack was able to get a team spirit and common purpose with the team. It may not have been pretty but Jack was right, we got results against all the top teams in the world back then and qualified for 3 tournaments.
