Love your videos, not an expert and may now have just enough knowledge to be dangerous, but you seem to almost always talk about steel reinforced concrete. Would really appreciate your doing a video about basalt reinforcement. Seems like steel is the weak link when it comes to reinforcing concrete. My interest is in ICF homes for their strength, survivability, with the goal of it lasting hundreds of years.

Thanks William!!! I have a planned video about them coming up. Stay tuned! Most of the world uses steel reinforced concrete for a good reason. However, there are many awesome benefits of non steel reinforcement.

@@TylerLey I'm seriously looking forward to it. Before I found your channel, I thought concrete was just concrete. Know better now! Have been totally surprised at how much is and isn't known about such an important key to the growth of our nation. Wish I could attend your lectures, but KZbin is the next best thing.

Thank you for your videos! Is the formation of CaOH and the resulting high pH why calcium content is limited in high aluminum content refractory cements and castables? The high pH would react with the aluminum in undesirable and destructive ways? So rather than use the binding of portland cement, such refractory materials often rely on crystal formation through high heat curing?

There is any step to make flexible concrete in the process? like using microwaves lasers, xray, ultrasound or some technology so you have some structural parts of the concrete ultra flexible to replace the wire mesh? ...

great video, in 16:18, you were discussing two figures, one is clearly from Tennis and Jennings work, how about the other one?
@TylerLey5 жыл бұрын
The other one is developed from Tennis and Jennings as well. It is just a different way to plot the data. I think they use it in the PCA Design and Control Book.

Also, Prof Ley, your SEM figures are very good examples to properly visualize the hydrations products. Can you tell me your source/s of these figures? Thank you.
