The Uganda National Population Census is a critical instrument for allocating resources and prioritizing national values and priorities that are reflected, or at least should be, in the national budget.
The recently concluded census revealed that 50.5% of Uganda's pupulation are children aged 0-17 years and 22.7% are 18-30 years. Young people therefore make 78.3% of the national population, yet they continue to face unique challenges including unemployment, education, health care among others.
In this podcast, we host James Tumusiime - Country Director of Reach A Hand Uganda (RAHU), Ruthie Jane Aceng - a Peer Educator with RAHU and Esther Nankya - Vice Chairperson of the National Youth Council to delve deeper into the national budgeting process and its taking into account the perspectives of young people, who are the future leaders and stakeholders of the country.
