Game Map's Lore:
Following the total capitulation of Cetus, the Antareans swiftly turned their attention to invading the neighboring country of Aquila. Aquila was protected by the "Ring of Fire", a chain of defensive forts and artillery batteries surrounding the heartlands of the country.
The nickname is given to a chain of defensive artillery batteries surrounding Aquila's borders. Built from 1898 to 1900, each battery was constructed with reinforced concrete and typically armed with three to four guns. The units were placed in a way that it formed a protective "ring" around the heartlands of Aquila.
Enemy units would not be able to go in between any two batteries, because the Aquilan's guns had great range coverage. Any formation that moved between two batteries would be met with shelling from two sides. Confronting a single battery was no easy task as well. They were protected by two concrete-encased field guns and a network of infantry trenches that guarded the main battery.
However, during the Aquilan campaign of the Centauran War, the use of heavy armored vehicles and aircraft made it difficult for the batteries to defend themselves from a head-on attack. The batteries were especially vulnerable from the air, as anti-aircraft measures were not yet widespread during this era. Antarean railway guns with even greater range than the Aquilans' were also able to bombard batteries, though these were used for sieging defense points near important locations.
In the fall of 1912, the Antareans attempted an attack on Battery Liberius located in the Southwest Prairie. The result was two failed siege attempts and the loss of thousands of men and equipment. It is approaching winter. This is the third attempt.

Note to all: The battle is not called "The Battle of Roland's Prairie", it is actually "The Third Battle of Battery Liberius". For details, consult the Centaura Wiki. Roland's Prairie is a large grassland and many battles were fought there. It's like the common mistake of calling the 1940 Nazi conquest of France as "The Battle of France", which, in reality, was a campaign and nowhere near a single battle. Think of "The Battle of Roland's Prairie" as "The Battle of Russia in WW2"

Sir, Antares declared war on us. What do we do? I've heard about it secretary, an Antarean soldier told me. He's a traitor, feels bad for us. He said this. 'Officer! Why are we doing this!? They're people like us! I don't want to do this! And i-i don't want to kill! AQUILA! FORGIVE ANTARES FOR THEIR ACTIONS!' He's a noble man, i just hope we can keep Antares away. You know what happens when Antares takes it...

Why do people still think this game is a PTSD simulator? It literally lost that charm after Capri valley since it gets so repetitive. Mons planus was an attempt to show the brutality and grind of a stalemate, but all it does is create 220 minute battles that nobody wants to fight in. And whitemouth was poorly executed and laggy asf. Roland's praire is also a great map but it doesn't even show the bad side of war anymore cuz it's so fun

@@il1680It still has moments, but they're primarily the exception now that we're used to the usual affair of guts and screams... which, funny enough, kinda reflects the original intent of this game when it first came out as an anti-war pseudo-horror experience. This brutality is so commonplace that we're numb to it. We don't even flinch anymore, save particularly vile moments that knock us out of the trance.

How to win a battle in trench warfare ❌️Station your troops safely in trenches to stop overwhelming attacking force ✅️Directly confront and charge towards the enemy, which realistically has a high chance to possess a much larger force, thus losing your fortifications' whole point
