I think there is something to the Zumiez theory. I remember having similar issues with multiple boards from there even within dif companies/woodshops. Creaky wood, easily chipped, and easily broken

i don't mind zumiez, but i was thinking the same thing the other day. i got an anti-hero from there 8.25 is actually 8.125 and it feels fine so far but it sounds dead when it hits the ground. i got an almost deck with it for $20 so can't complain i guess.

Consider it a blessing that you can skate 24/7 here in canada we can only skate 5 maybe 6 months of the year unless you live in a major city with indoor parks. Makes it much harder to maintain consistency 😞

Zumiez boards have been left there forever. It happens at regular skate shops a lot less because of what I imagine being, them getting new boards constantly. The wood drys out completely if it’s just been left in a room and not touched for months. I could be wrong but that’s what I’ve heard. I wouldn’t have bought any of the boards from vans while I worked there for that same reason. But listen man, skate what you can.
