FanPlastic They became the CJB back in 1985- under the direction of Wayne Markworth. Back then, the band world was pretty different from what we see now, but since the beginning they've always made a splash. In the early days, they really did play old-style jazz. At one point, they had a marching electric guitarist, and another member of the band whose only job was to push the amp around behind the guitarist. These days, the jazz is more subtle- consider the preshow sax here, for example. They're is not the "Centerville Marching Band" or God forbid "the Marching Elks" because they're not your typical marching band. They're not a parade band and they aren't an extension of our grammatically incorrect mascot. CJB exists to entertain and to stand out. In this show, all woodwinds switched to sax and the whole drum line played on drum sets. at the end- going old-school big band. They look different, they sound different, they ARE different.
