You have to think about where the water is going and what it is accomplishing, not Just squirt. At the angle it is laying on the windowsill, the spray from the interior nozzle is actually going horizontally across to the opposite wall rather than the ceiling. This is good as the water and air will quickly reverse direction and head out the window. If it did hit the ceiling it would be sucked out topo quickly and not get on the burning material. Imagine hanging it from a second-floor window where the main pipe was vertical. the water would hit the ceiling at a 45-degree angle which is also good. I would add additional nozzles to make sure the actual burning material was getting coated no matter what the angle.
