India has a new central banker. Shak-ti-Kanta Das has been appointed to the top job at the Reserve Bank of India. The appointment comes after the abrupt depature of Urjit Patel on Monday, citing personal reasons. But his resignation comes as concerns grow that the independence of central banks around the globe could be under threat.

There should be no PRIVATE central banks. IF a nation wants to BE a nation it needs a NATIONAL bank that is ANSWERABLE to the people = "political interference" in bankspeak. Private Central Banks should be outlawed. Let private banks be small community banks, or even commercial banks owned by thousands of shareholders, none of whom is allowed to hold more than 1 percent of stock.
