I find Central Park amazing - the fact such a big city has a singular massive expanse of greenery is so great to see, and seeing the skyline all around you makes it quite strange and sereal

There is this hack with the lamp posts all over the park. You'll find 4 numbers on the base of the lamp. the first 2 numbers, tells you the nearest street, and the las 2 numbers tells you if you are more to the east or the west. If the last 2 numbers are even you are on the east, if those are odd, you are in the west. And, if you go the Oak Bridge in the evening, you could find some Racoons in the area.

"If I'd lived in Roman times, I'd have lived in Rome. Where else? Today America is the Roman Empire and New York is Rome itself." John Lennon

Before John and Yoko financed it, the "Strawberry Fields" area in Central Park was weedy and overgrown. They paid for beautiful landscaping which included plants and trees from all over the world. Now, of course, it is also a place to remember John Lennon and his message of peace. I lived in that neighborhood for a long time and sometimes saw John and Yoko walking in that very area with toddler Sean Lennon in tow--they kept him on a sort of long leash so he could not be kidnapped. Yoko remains a real and philanthropic force in NYC.

Central Park is an incredibly designed place. Thanks Frederick Olmsted! Nearly 100% man-made but looks like it isn’t at all. Almost everything you see there was placed there by his designs and is not naturally occurring.

There is a secret survey marker behind the dairy, where the intersection of 6th Ave and 65th Street would have been. You climb the rocks behind the dairy, and you'll find a bolt hammered into a rock. It's the only known marker left from the original survey of Manhattan.

Funniest thing on GTA IV, run up to one of the food vendors and knock into him until he gets annoyed, then run to the next did vendor whilst being chased and stand by him, when the angry food vendor catches up he takes a swing at you but instead of hitting you he hits the vendor next to you which starts a street fight. Hilarious. Liberty Island is the best place for it but Central Park is good as well.

In the North West of England were I live there are lots of mere's but funnily enough we don't just say for instance 'I'm going to Pickmere' we'd say 'I'm going to Pickmere Lake', for me though, one of the most beautiful mere's is in the Lake District and it's called Buttermere.

228th view, 25th like and possibly the 18th comment. Whew!! What a tour! How’s your voice? Hope you are resting some between filming days. So good to see you in sunshine, such a pretty day. I had heard of Strawberry Fields and the Lennon memorial, but I did not know it is a “quiet zone”. Interesting that a man of music and demonstration ( stayed in bed for a week to protest the Vietnam War and other things) is remembered this way. Perhaps to make you think, reflect and ‘Imagine”. Take care of that voice...it is your bread and butter! ❤️😃

You were in want of a better word there, when describing the obelisk from Egypt. Hieroglyphs are 'chased' into stone. If making an impression, letters or groove into something with mallet & chizel. It's called chasing it out.

My brother lives in Birkenhead UK, he lives opposite Birkenhead Park. Central Park is based on Birkenhead Park which is the first public park. There are some similarities between the two, instead of the baseball diamonds the are cricket pitches and tennis courts, Central Park is much bigger though.
