I gotta say this is one of my favorite new channels. The level of detail in your work is amazing. Understandably your overhead is less, but I personally think you should ask more for the skill and craftsmanship. $75-100 in my opinion. You are creating one off, fully custom products. Not to mention, enhancing the safety of these rides. Keep it up!

Wow, thank you! Really appreciate that comment. We think so as well. After the project was done $60 seamed a little to low. Live and learn I guess. The important thing is that the customer was very happy. That will pay dividends well into the future.

@@centurialinc I wonder if a cage like that would work on 1973 and up C10 single cab. Also could it be possible to run support bars to the rear part of the frame through the back side of the cab but at a hight just below the bed rails so they could be covered up so no one could see them.
@centurialinc3 ай бұрын
It sure could. We did not do the back bars because you have to cut through the cabin and the customer did not want that. But you can definitely do that.

Thank you very much! That's an interesting thought. For sure the type of interior you have matters A LOT! This cage build only had an 1/8 inch clearance in multiple locations. We aren't ready to make and ship cages right now but maybe next year we could try to tackle that.

I had a question with the template can you explain when you start your bend in the tube bender using the templates
@centurialinc2 ай бұрын
Yes. If your bender is like ours then you need to start the bend with a little bit of offset. In the video you can see we used the templates to tell us where each bend started with marks on the tube. The marks line up with the 0 degree and the end angle what ever it is. Now that gets you close. Your bender will have some amount of jiggle and imperfection and you will need to figure that out with a test bend. For us it was about a 1/4 offset. That offset is to compensate for our benders preload and jiggle. The offset is right where the dies meet in the machine. It's impossible to explain in words any more than I have. So my suggestion is to do a little test bend or two to get a feel for how to use the templates and your bender.

Nice work! Your shop rate seems a little low to me from the mindset of business and Labor costs. You mentioned "40 hours" was that "Man hours" or "Shop hours"? What part of the country are you located in? That makes a big difference also. All in all your work and prices are impressive! I'm looking forward to learning more from you guys.
@centurialinc Жыл бұрын
Thank you very much. We are in Casa Grande AZ which is out side of Phoenix. So costs are lower. The 40 hrs is man hours at $30 an hour. We think we could go up to $100 per hour shop rate but after that it seams to high. That cage would have been $4k which is a lot considering its a 4 point cage. Now that dose include install, paint and any misc. needed to get it done like hardware. Lots more to come we are going to continue with the business side of things for a while people like that content and it's not very often talked about. Thanks for the comment and watching.

Your rate is way too low. $100/hr min with Bnomics. Not kidding. You're building custom-custom-custom. I'm about 8 hours N of you in BFE. Dealerships are often over $200 in many parts of the country, but you can't really compare wrenching to custom fab. Finally, if you bill every minute, then your rate is maybe ok. But if you look back and delete time for mistakes, etc then you need to bill higher. Don't worry, soon you'll be so busy you'll have to raise prices. Trust me. The best way to limit business is increase pricing. At your current rate people will start abusing you. By charging more you filter out the low-end clientele and wind up with quality customers willing to truly pay for quality work. If people don't like it, they can buy their own space, benders, welders and everything else.
@centurialinc Жыл бұрын
Thank you! Really appreciate that advice and we agree. That price did end up being too low in the end. So far we have 2-3 other projects lined up. They are more involved builds so we will see how things go and like you said if we get swamped we will have not choice but to up prices.
@keithll3283 Жыл бұрын
@centurialinc as your reputation builds (and it won't take long) start quoting jobs at prices that seem *almost* astronomical to you. I think you'll be surprised what people will pay. Again, you're ultimately after a customer base that cares about quality work first and price second.
