The Banished Heart This dark winding road. A long path ahead. A sound in the distance of light escaping. Through the haze a silhouette. A glimpse of reality. Only leading to nothing, where no light dwells. I feel hope leaving, I see love fading, What I wanted to be, what I couldn't become. If you could find me, would you even know me? An empty room, an empty heartbeat... I have found you in the darkness. I have found you... And...and here you are, To set a brand new path... To show me all that love means. I was lost, lost at the edge of all reason, And I...I didn’t know my way, I’d given up hope. But...but, here you are to set a brand new path. To show me all that love means. When I hold you, I need you. I said forever, and I mean forever. When I hold you, I need you. I said forever, and I mean forever. I was lost, lost at the edge of all reason. And I...I didn’t know my way. I’d given up hope. But...but here you are to show me a new way. I didn't know love until your name. But here you are to set a brand new path. To show me all that love means. When I hold you, I need you. I said forever, I mean forever. When I hold you, I need you. I said forever, I mean forever. I was waiting impatiently, But finally this moment has come. To see you, to feel you, this magic from far beyond. Can you see it? Can you feel it? Finally you are in my arms. Oh real love, Most real love, I’ve died to be yours. What was lost, Your heart has found. Most beautiful one. Can you see it? Can you feel it? Finally in my arms. Can you see it? Can you feel it? Finally you are in my arms. Oh real love, Most real love, I’ve died to be yours. Can you see it? Can you feel it? Finally in my arms. Oh real love, Most real love, I’ve died to be yours. Can you see it? Can you feel it? Finally in my arms. Oh real love, Most real love, I’ve died to be yours.

Cammie is stunning and her voice flows like a pure wind in this song (Damn, this girl can do everything with her voice). The song is not as heavy as I expected (it's the album's title), but the band demonstrates that they're not within any stereotypes and can find their own style. They always give surprises and that's not easy in this business. The piano, the choir and the drums are fantastic as well. The video is beautiful (a kind of southern gothic atmosphere). Congratulations, guys. I'm in love with this band. Greetings from Colombia!!!

This is my new personal favorite song and video of the decade... The video bears, like someone here said, a blend of Southern and Gothic. The song itself is phenomenal, sir Dobber slays on both piano and drums, and of course Cammie is beyond talented and beautiful. The lyrics and the cinematics here work perfectly. The switch on 6:45 is out of this world, it sounds and looks like a dream... and that's where Oceans of Slumber music strives, in between reality and dreams.

I must add another comment. This title track effects me in a way that I haven't felt by a song in a long time. From the dirge beginning, through the Windham Hill(esque) piano passage and eventually the final mournful breath of longing, I feel.., as though I'm laying in the golden hour of light of a wind swept field. And yet I'm lost within the hues around me.

And once again I find myself posting on this..,and feeling as if I've fallen below it all. My dog died on February 20 and now.., these lyrics have dissolved into another weight upon me. So oddly pertaining a personal element to our story. For through a series misplaced footings, I was lost in the darkness and he found me. A intersectional rescue if you will. And here am.., I can not see it or feel it except for what's now lost. This song brings out the sadness that I just can not walk away from this time. A catalyst, not a cause.

First thing is first here, all of those bands you just mentioned are great and everything and I have been a big fan of Arch Enemy all of my life however they're not at all a new band they've been around since 1994 the same goes for Amon Amarth and also Within Temptation. These are also really great bands but neither one of them are alike so I don't see the comparison. The only comparison that I could ever see Arch Enemy ever having with Oceans of Slumber is the fact that their lead vocalist is a woman but in my eyes that argument would only hold true today if you're counting all of the years that they have been a band it would not be true because when they started they did not have a female vocalist at all

This is one of these songs you have to listen to multiple times to really grasp how great it actually is, so much detail and variation. Also i feel this song works similar to classical music with a lot of change in pace and incorporating these drawn out slow and quiet parts, which is so rare in current music.
