Knight Artorias Yes, there has been. Major record companies have been trying to do it over the past couple years. I'm not talking like making the vocals weaker, or going with clean vocals, I'm just saying that people have been, in general, pushing to have more annuceated vocals further up in the mix, so you can understand it more. There are some bands that choose not to go with it, obviously, but that's why you see a lot of bands go from barely understandable to suddenly clear in the past few years.

I just saw a dark funeral on Sunday, December 4 for the first time and I didn’t know a lot about them. I knew they were black metal so I knew sort of what the sound was going to be like and holy crap. What an awesome band I had to buy a few albums the next day and I hadn’t listen to black metal in probably 15 years because I just went to regular death metal but I love dark funeral they were cool they can play well and they put on an amazing show. I will go see them every single time they are close for the rest of my life.

I love all of Dark Funeral's work, and I am pleasantly surprised by how different this is from their past work. The drums are more clear than on Angelus and the guitars aren't as bright, taking away from the other instruments. I see other people making fun of the music video but I think it's unique and strangely appealing. I really hope they come out with an album soon.
