I'm a kazuya main and I gotta say, that was so good from Kola, instead of changing his playstyle for the match up playing lame and slow, he just became so much more aggressive to a point riddles just couldn't handle anymore. It's so nice to see a player succeed by improving his own style/skills instead of playing "cheap" strategies like camping... 27:54 -- as a Roy player, that was such a satisfying hit. It was so basic of a thing that I imagine solid (online) Roy players learn -- train your opponent to think you're more likely to jump up to catch them mid air, or that you're waiting for them on a given spot on the ground. The opponent observes for one, and aims to move to dodge the ground attack but you predicted all of that and move at the last second to smash attach in that landing spot/timing they thought was safe. I suspect the usual counter and normal play at the level these guys are at is that as soon as Kola moved on the ground, Riddles needed to press a button and not react defensively. But Kola is a much more fearsome trainer in terms of needing to cover full on aggressive options. That finisher was a straight prediction from Kola.

I wanted to see riddles win it TBH, but at the same time I can't remember the last time Kola was in Grand finals and took it home. I've watched a lot of Kola recently and man... Because Kola didn't lose a single set before Grand Finals. You need to lose two sets before getting eliminated and since Kola was still in winner side of bracket Riddles had to win two times to win the whole tournament. Hope it helped 😅
