When I connect with the mud I feel that I connect with the most basic elements of nature.
I can feel and perceive vulnerability and strength and how it behaves as it comes into contact with the other elements.
the clay is very vulnerable to all other elements, observing is something that I can perceive.
For me it represents the force of nature and shows me step by step how to find the balance in its purest essence to achieve. In some way for me the clay symbolizes the basic and pure qualities of each of the elements.
When the clay is moistened with water, it becomes flexible, moldable and invites you to touch it, feel it and work it, but if there is excess water, it dissolves, disperses… it is lost.
The air dries it, hardens it, it seems strong, but the slightest blow can destroy it and turn it into dust.
When it comes into contact with fire it becomes a rigid, resistant and strong material, but if it exceeds the temperature it can resist, the fire destroys it completely and loses all its qualities.
The process of working it and creating work is the journey I need to find the balance, to learn the limits, qualities, advantages and shortcomings of each material.
I feel ecstatic When I work with it and I realize that it really is infinite, that it has millions of possibilities since simply 10º can make the color vary, an excessive entrance of oxygen in the cooking can create a different texture or depending on the place where the piece is cooked it can be a more intense or dull color, so two pieces will never be the same and the search for perfection within infinity generates a great desire to not stop exploring.
It makes me think of the infinite possibilities of the universe and how and in every decision is the result of a unique piece. Because if you work manually, even if molds are used, each piece will be unique.
At the same time, the result of the piece according to its shapes, colors, or the way of treating the clay tells the ceramist how he lives and walks the world, delicately, forcefully, allowing himself to be carried away or perfecting every last detail ... all the pieces They talk about the one who created them and that for me is magical, since it helps me learn other languages and a different way of communicating.
Ultimately for me ceramics teaches me and helps me see beyond and that… hooks me
Ceramic has taught me to see beauty within the imperfect. In what I believed to be the eternal search for the perfect, it was nothing more than the search for beauty from my way of perceiving the world.
A world in which we sometimes focus on seeing the negative, when beauty can be felt in every corner.
My way of creating is a way of teaching that the world is perfectly imperfect and we must not forget that we are part of it.
