This guy is so ridiculously good, i can't believe it. I've listened to him for years and i still can't comprehend his flow. There's sometimes absolutely cheesy tracks, sloppy mixes, dark stuff. The crazy thing is, it feels fucking magical. The man knows how to throw a party.
@arnaudgolenvaux2995 жыл бұрын
I agree, small exception (can happen to the best!), TML last year, first week, on diynamic stage, his first hour was a disaster. No cohesion at all between the tracks... 4 vocal tracks in the first 5 (if I remember correctly), totally not his thing, dunno what happened there. I went away so disappointed I was. Came back in the end of his set and it was ok again. Since then I re-watched that set 3 or 4 times on KZbin, and I still don't understand what he did, and I still think it was very bad.

I've been to his shows two times, and both times he played for over 8hours, once around 12-13. Mans did 24 hours in Turkey I believe. I respectfully disagree. It is a magical night at a prime location with outstanding preparation on the organizers part, and I do agree that the music being played is "decent" but is there anything special about it really? It just sounds like never-played-before (for the novelty effect) generic house tunes made to have drops in very precise moments and he is going from one to the other without any real creativity or special touch. Is being Solomun all about being the head of a decent label (so he gets all the unreleased tracks) and playing them as precise as a computer program would? Some other comment talked about how he is so great at controlling the crowd, and I do clearly see he made them dance, hell I've been to Solomon events 10+ times and he has always been decent, but unlike what you said I think he used to be VERY SPECIAL 4 or 5 years back. Listen to some on his older videos like dynamic amsterdam (2015) or the set he plays after kollektiv trumstrase, you will (maybe) see my point. This set would never stand in a good, intimate club because it is just. so. generic. Dude has less and less of a soul to mix into his music as he gets bigger and bigger (scope wise).

@@jdoubleddotable I still disagree, if I'm dropping a tab and calling you in the morning, then that night is probably going to be spent with things like Bedouin's Burning Man 2017 set or something from Viken Arman (like his cercle or Burning Man 2016 sets) or something from Innervisions, not Solomun. Everything is quite amazing on a tab and I'm not going to use it on a lesser set like this. This is great for redbull at best, and MAYBE small amounts of E, not tabs.

I opened for Solomun back in 2014 at my friend's club, Monarch SF. The wild part is that they just installed a new DJM-900NXS2, but his technical rider not only required 4 CDJ-2000NXS2, but the DJM-2000NXS (the one also in this video). So, they bought Pioneer's flagship mixer just for that night and returned it the next day. At the time, no one had used one before and no one knew what all the functions were. Of course, Solomun owned one and he used every filter, loop, sidechain effect, etc. His 3 hour set back then was truly masterful, although he doesn't seem to be doing much during this set.
