I'm glad you talked about this "Real Ghostbusters" episode, because I enjoyed hearing about it from your perspective. I also appreciate the episode's title being a play on a certain hit children's show for PBS.

I'm amazed to learn that the creator of 'Duckman' (Everett Peck) designed the monsters for 'The Real Ghostbusters'. Also, the writing staff (Including JMS) not only nailed the personalities of the four main Ghostbusters, but also avoided most of the tropes you'd normally see on cartoons from this era.

This is one of my favorite episodes of Ghostbusters. It's got everything going for it to make it one of the best. The little "Who's on First" like routine gives it good humor and the atmosphere and tension lead to great action. That soundtrack by Tahiti definitely dates the show but I love it. Tahiti's soundtrack in the Real Ghostbusters is so rarely talked about. That's a shame.

I see you used a plan jane DVD transfer of this episode as there was no title card at the beginning, booo, and no I didn't say that to scare you. :D My eyes widened when you mentioned the guest voices as I had NO idea that Leo De Lyon, the voice of Spook and Brain from Top Cat was the voice of Wut, I actually assumed it was Frank Welker for some reason, so thanks for the info. :) Ray actually using an ecto-grenade to escape Mrs. Rodger's house would make made more sense then him simply dropping a ghost trap in there, but what can you do. One possible thing you could do to try and figure out what studios were involved is to look up some of the names that appear in the end credits. Some of these people from Japan may have been hired solely by one studio, but chances are they probably worked frequently between various studios at the time, but it's just an idea, one you probably all ready considered. That does sound like a great idea for a future video, you showing ujs the behind the scenes stuff from this episode i mean. I agree, terrific acting by the whole cast there, especially Lorenzo Music who really knew how to scream if he had too. Do keep up the good work sir. :)

Far as I can tell, most of the the staff (at least, the ones who got credit for the first three batches of episodes) were stationed at KKC&D (DiC's Japanese branch), with only a few that weren't: - Yasuo Kageyama was affiliated with Visual 80; the studio behind most of Spiral Zone's animation and the Belle and Sebastian series from the early 80s. - Tomomasa Yamazaki appears to be freelance, as Ghostbusters was his only DiC credit (afaik). Before this he worked with Pierrot on Pastel Yumi and work with Studio Comet on several after titles the Syndicated batch ended. - Katsumi Takasuga might have been with Studio Korumi (one of the many offshoots to Tatsunoko Pro, like Studio World) for this, but I can't really confirm it all that well. - Masato Kimura was probably a freelancer, since I can't place down any affiliation for them. - Mase Otaki might have also been a St. Korumi animator, but I can't say with certainty. - Masao Takeda is freelance. - Yukitaka Shishikai (who is miscredited here) was with St. Korumi at the time. - Most of the camera staff appears to have been affiliated with Ogata Productions, a short-lived camera studio. T. Nishimura is another camera studio who also had a hand in numerous anime OVA and series (including God Mars, Gunsmith Cats, and the original adaptations of Ranma 1/2 and Urusei Yatsura), plus the third Season of HBO's Spawn series, and the first seasons of both Inspector Gadget and Transformers G1. Perhaps not too surprisingly, these are the animators/staff members listed for every episode during the first two ABC seasons and the syndicated run (the Toei episodes for Season 4 had their own set that never changed from episode to episode; as did Sei Young's run); even with episodes already confirmed to be helmed, either in part or in full, by other anime studios like Ashi Pro, TMS, Trans Arts or Ajia-Do. I'm not 100% sure why this happened, but it's what happened.

@@Newsystuffs I got the feeling that the majority of those people were freelance at the end of the day. For the first two seasons, it would have been K.K. DiC Asia, before it changed to K.K. C&D Asia in 1987, so gong on from Season 3 onwards. Of course, many studios would outsource to each other so that just makes identifying studios that much harder in some instances, though for this episode, I assume that it was TMS, due to the high level of expression, some fancy effects and the colours being very bright and vibrant with little in the way of mistakes. But that's just how I see it, it could very well have been someone else, or TMS and one or two other studios or teams working on it. Still, you sure did your homework on those names that came up in the credits, I'm very impressed. :)
