Heath, the Sons Of Steel tote bag is RAD! The lobby cards is gonna make me watch this film! Just epic. The poster reminds me of the Y&T mascot.

Hi Heath. It's great seeing Umbrella and Imprint finally treating the Australian public with high quality releases that not just we Aussies but the rest of the world can enjoy. I'm of the age where all these films, and many others during the Ozploitation period, would come out in the cinemas for a couple of weeks and then disappear without a trace. Late night TV and VHS was where I was exposed to many of these films and I recall browsing the shelves of the local video library and spotting these titles. I definitely recall Midnite Spares at the time of its release and it bombed, like many of these films during the 70's and 80's. I'm enjoying the opportunity to watch some of these lost gems (and duds) through these releases.

Why are foreign collectors editions so nicely put together. In North America all the Shout/Scream factory collector's edition is just a case in a slip cover if you are lucky and at a premium price for us Canadians!

Hi Heath I was a teenager when most of these movies had their theatrical release in Oz. Most were rated “R” which in Oz is 18 years plus only entry. My friends and I had fake id’s and saw most of them. It was fantastic as generally there were only about 10 or so people in the cinema so most of these titles are cult classics rather than mainstream successes. Have very fond memory when my friend and I were the only ones in the cinema to see the first Mad Max movie which was also rated R. MM however was a big hit around the world. Love the Umbrella releases and I have most of them. BTW love your channel.

Love Midnite Spares, watched it many years ago on the Medusa Vhs here in the UK, finally there is a legit disc release of this superb film. Ordered the collectors edition as soon as it was up for order, thank you Umbrella for this release!.

Yes I have seen the Spotswood film and the North American release was called The Efficancy Expert, we had it in the video store I worked at. My boss was a big Anthony Hopkins fan, so he special ordered it. Good movie, when you were reading the back cover I was like, wait a second that sounds familiar. I think you will enjoy it.

I'm an Australian born in 1970. I know of Midnight Spares, but I've never watched it. I think people my age and older would be aware of it, but it was never a mainstream success. There was cultural cringe in the 80s in Australia. There were a few classics like Mad Max and Gallipoli, but sadly, we mostly consumed American movies and local releases were largely ignored. Many cheesy exploitation movies like Midnight Spares were produced due to a tax credit at the time.

Born '74, never heard of most of these Ozploitation titles, let alone seen them. While not Ozploitation range, Sons of Steel is prime example, only shown in a few cinemas on release for limited viewings. The cringe was real and after watching these umbrella releases we lost out big time.

Although I've been around before most of these Ozploitation films were made most have passed me by. I have heard of some of the Ozploitation films in the series but most I've never heard of or seen, including Midnight Spares. I don't think barely anyone here in Australia would know it or have seen it. It's no Mad Max in terms of its status. I have been picking the series up though and they are great to see and explore these pieces of our cinematic history that totally passed me by for some reason. They certainly didn't show these on TV when I was a kid and I don't recall seeing them in the video shop during that era (aside from a small handful of them). I've also been getting the Sunburnt Screens titles but with those ones I've heard of (if not seen) pretty much all of them (including Spotswood). However these were definitely more mainstream and on TV or the vid shop (or I saw them in the cinema). I am enjoying that umbrella is bringing out Aussie cinematic history to us and the world at large. Very cool. I hope they release 2 Man From Snowy River movies in Sunburnt Screens as I've been waiting for Blu rays of those for what seems like forever!! I only have them on DVD which are looking fairly tired now.

Great Umbrella update, Heath! Sad I missed out on the special bundle for Cloak & Dagger as I was thinking about getting it just for the merch/pewter figure 😎 I don't think stores in the US will carry the bundle packs like that, but maybe I can find the extras on the bay...

Hi Heath. Did you pick up the Vinegar Syndrome release of Cloak and Dagger? Such a great release but as an Aussie myself I was stoked to see Umbrella do release it on Blu-ray. Richard Franklin is pretty amazing with Patrick, Roadgames, Psycho 2, Cloak and Dagger 👍 I think You will enjoy Sons of Steel. It’s punk Rock it’s Heavy Metal it’s just got it’s own vibe going on. Weird in many ways but Wonderful in so many others.

Not familiar with these 4 movies. The one release I'm so disappointed I didn't get from Umbrella was the Box of Burt, which sold out in about 24 hours.

Did the Box of Burt sell out that quickly?! I wouldn't be surprised if that was one of their best sellers for the whole year. I wish that I was able to show it off, as I'm a huge Burt fan.

@@CerealAtMidnight I'm not sure exactly how long it was, but I know it was less then 36hrs. I emailed them about it, and they said they were considering releasing more of them. I hope they at least release the box of movies without all the other goodies. I'm a big Burt fan as well!
