Coming from a time before any home media existed, it has always been about the movie to me. I agree with pretty much everything Brad has to say. When Criterion was putting out their no-frills "Essential Art House" series that just had the movie and the standard case and no extras for less than half the price of the regular stacked release, that's all I wanted. All the fetishization of steelbooks and the like is totally foreign to my way of thinking.

Another fantastic and important discussion, with good philosophies like: love movies, be kind (especially online), love movies, enjoy the movies more than the packaging, and make them more available instead of a limited collectors item. And love the movies. Heath, you are always such a great listener in these interviews, more hosts could learn from you there too."You haven't seen your favorite movie yet" is a great attitude. Thanks, and enjoy things everybody!

EXCELLENT interview with Brad. I remember listening to him on the Screamcast podcast, especially enjoying his coverage of Fantastic Fest and other festivals and the movies he saw. Wonderful anecdote about FROGMAN selling out at Walmart. I enjoyed all of his insights about physical media. Not sure I understand why 2007 is the cutoff date for "new" movies, though. Hope you have Brad on again, as I would love to hear his thoughts on many of the crazy films he's responsible for releasing by Terror Vision (and Vinegar Syndrome). Ryan and Chloe Graveface would be very interesting guests, also. Best wishes and prayers to Brad on his health issues!

Unexpected but great chat, gents! Always have liked Terror Vision. I had a 10-film sub plan and really enjoyed it. Something they don't advertise is that you get big discounts on other items when you are a subscriber. For music, shirts, merch, etc. I took advantage of that a few times as well. Hoping for the best with Brad and his health, and looking forward to what TV has in store for us in the future 😎

I'll be honest, cult horror is not my Jam, but Brad seems like a cool guy. Also, I am someone who wants to see cheaper options! I have no issues with a movie in a plain blu / black / clear case. A nice slip and some features are of course welcome, but it is not a deal breaker.

HUGE fan of Graveface Records & Terror Vision for years - I have absolute trust in anything Ryan (and Chloe) is involved in and the people he chooses to work with. If you ever get a chance to visit the locations in Savannah - Do go - they are so awesome! The museum is a MUST. I am so sad to hear that the warehouse space is going away - does this mean the Lodge of Sorrows is also - because that is an amazing venue. I live in Richmond, but my husband and I have been visiting Graveface since our son started attending SCAD in 2012 and have continued since he left. We have been off and on members of the record club as well, but our current circumstances don't allow for it - hopefully, we'll join again soon, but in the meantime, we did grab a bunch of the movies Terror Vision has on sale now. Love you guys so much!

So many truths spoken in this video, spotlighting a lot of the nonsense that goes on in our own little world. Loved it. Great work.

Nodding furiously in agreement with all of the critiques in this video. I feel a lot of enthusiasts aren’t mindful/aware of the tactics used in marketing to induce a sense of FOMO. It really does seem like there are collectors who literally buy this stuff for the sake of it, with no actual interest in the movie itself. I’m completely out of shelf space myself, and paring down my collection as a result. I have to ask myself how much I really *have* to own a movie every time a release piques my interest. I couldn’t care less about slipcovers or (especially) steelbooks. I don’t understand the obsession with either one.

Death threats over physical media are completely reasonable.....I've been wanting to threaten someone for not doing an LA Confidential nor Willard (Crispin Glover version) 4K restoration, I just dont know where to direct my fury to 😉

To be fair to the people who prefer older titles to new titles, i have become a bigot against modern films. I haven't heard of the Terror Vision label until now and want to check out your movies. I don't buy anything before it comes out. Even if I pre-ordered stuff, I wouldn't complain if I knew about the brain tumor. If you're reading this, I hope for better physical and emotional health. I will certainly include you in my prayers.

Sad to hear your stance on new films. I love movies more today than ever, and a huge part of that is because there are so many great ones being made right now.

the way OCD in the physical media community is never actually OCD, they're just anal retentive. wish my OCD was just being annoyed at normal wear and dings

I've had a front row seat for the past 7 1/2 years and I think OCD runs the gamut. Many of us are neurodivergent, ADHD, autistic, or things that haven't been labeled. Many physical media fans crave order, being able to carefully categorize things in their heads. Ever notice me smelling new releases? Talking about how they feel? I'm trying to keep my own obsessions in check, but they're always there. Yes, OCD also manifests itself as things like turning lights on and off repeatedly, checking the stove 12 times (and counting to 12 so you remember you did it) and counting ceiling tiles. I know it isn't your intention to be unkind, but OCD manifests itself in all sorts of ways, including being a perfectionist. I'm just suggesting that many of us are hurting these days and that labeling doesn't really help any of us. Kindness goes a long way. That goes for the obsessives who are sweating over dings and scratches, too. No reason to attack anyone because a slipcover is bent. No reason to attack anyone at all.

@@CerealAtMidnightTotally agree with you, Heath. I was diagnosed with autism back in January this year (at 34 years of age) and I am like this. Things like this can make me loose sleep because of it and it's not like I want that to happen.
