I took a painting class in San Jose, CA. I kept scraping off the Grand Tetons until the teacher said, “It takes two people to paint a picture, one to paint it and the other to hit the artist over the head when the painting is finished”.😊

I love this! Great job, Ceri. So glad I found you. Interesting note about post-its. An engineer/scientist was given the job of finding a specific kind of glue. He ended up with this glue that would stick and could be removed without leaving a trace. He made post-its and made his pitch for production. He was turned down bc who would use it? He made a bunch and had his assistant/secretary give them out to all the secretaries, especially those of the execs who turned him down. The post-its were a hit with the secretaries. When they ran out, they asked for more. They were directed to their bosses b/c there were no more and there was no permission to make more. Now we have post-its. 🥰 I heard this story some time ago so some of the details might be sketchy, but the gist is right. Moral of the story: if you want something done, ask a secretary. Secretaries rule!

I did watch all the way to the end. I think this is absolutely wonderful and also "just right." Doesn't need another mark. I love grid journaling and I too have been inspired by Kellee, BB and Jackie. And now you, Ceri. Grid journaling to me is much like Shannon Green's Journaling by Fives, from about six years ago, where you take one process and do it on 20 pages in 15 minutes. Then the next process on all 20 pages for 15 minutes. Lots of fun and gets the thinking brain completely out of it. Really freed me up in my art. As does grid journaling. A lot of folks use it as a springboard to other art pieces, but for me, grid journaling is a worthy end in itself. I love it. -- Barbara Clark

Grid journaling has been creeping into my feed, too. I am intrigued, but I want to do circles or “bubbles” on a page. I think a grid of 2 inch circles would be fun as I further explore watercolors or maybe some gel plate collage. We shall see. I love the way you did your experiment.

watching all the artist's you listed led me to you... grid #44... Love yr patter as ii can so relate, yet all the ones ii learn with/from start & finish from joy, not inner bullying... critiquing or editing is opposite condemnation... as a wannabe abstract art maven who blends zentangle, watercolor, collage, inks, acrylics & often am challenged to work bigger, grids as a shape allow me the freedom to go crazy within borders, & also find combinations & color palettes iinwouldnt have tried., as well as coloring outside the lines. The jackies remind me to press thru ugly stages, and love the process regardless of the outcome, to come back later, however long that may be, and let the piece tell me what it needs... ty for being authentically you.

I’ve started noticing in my grids there’s normally one square or rectangle that stands out for me and I could use that to create a bigger piece of art.

How interesting. A bit of a different concept but one that looks like fun. I just had another pop up with one that is titled "Testing new art supplies on a mixed media grid art journal page" by Lindsay Weirich, thefrugalcrafter. Now I'll have to check out more of these. I'd done something similar when I took a couple collage classes from Catherine Rains, one in '23 and one this year. We made the papers so they would coordinate, something like what you are doing. It can stretch you, but it can also be very fulfilling and fun as well. I'll have to peek at what you linked too.
