It’s tough to seat between 2 lg passengers. I feel bad. Airline should have some type of regulation. They could ask the customers like “ do you need 2 seats? Based on your size ‘? If as I just proved, being snuggly only matters if you intend to snuggle with someone, then vis a vis you implied that you want to snuggle with the couple. In all honesty, I think you just chose the wrong word or didn't phrase it correctly. "As long as they don't mind accidentally bumping up against me" is a far better way to imply that you're indifferent to being close to strangers and you'd hope that they would be too, to avoid awkwardness.
