Certifying Citizenship: An Introduction to U.S. Naturalization Records

Throughout American history, millions of immigrants declared their intention to become citizens of the United States and give up their loyalty and allegiance to their homelands. During this pursuit, future citizens had to meet specific requirements and file various papers with the United States judicial system. In this class, we will explain the history of naturalization in the United States, discuss the naturalization process, and introduce the records created when someone becomes a citizen.
