U can obtain blueprints if u have all the materials needed for the gummi if i remeber right

why am I the only person who can't complete this? I've never been good at these types of games and don't understand why it has to block me from progression. I've tried everything.

Are you only just trying to clear the regular gate the first time? My advice is to spam dodge in "circular motions" but be wary of where enemy ships are firing their weapons. Sometimes switching to a newer better ship that you get from completing other stages may also help you to survive through this stage.

Describe "everything" because something is wrong clearly with your approach. You may just need a sturdier Gummi ship with more firepower like a Higher level Falcon or Highwind. I usually just use the default ships I get rewarded in game and don't make any custom ships. If I do make custom ships, I'm just copying the base model of an blueprint ship or the Mini Gummi ships.

Your game’s travel mini-game may be cool, but it won’t ever be as cool as Kingdom Hearts 2 blasting synth-rock while flying down a highway battling alien demons in a bullethell.

I'm right there with you man. KH's "open world" approach was alright, I mean, it was fine. I definitely found myself missing these fast paced battles with rockin' music and crazy visuals more and more. I guess it could be because I grew up in the 80's, primarily in a bowling alley as most of my family were league bowlers, and spent a lot of time in the arcades. From Defender, to Gyruss, to Time Pilot, Giga Wing, and the Raiden Saga, space shooters and shooters in general were my jam, and kh2's gummi missions spoke to that part of me.
