CES 2020: GuRu Millimeter-Wave Wireless Power Delivery

Allison Sheridan interviews Ali Hajimiri from GuRu about their millimeter-wave wireless power delivery technology. GuRu’s system beams radio waves through the air to transmit power from a Generating Unit to a Receiving Unit. The millimeter-wave beams intelligently find and power the devices. The Generating unit plugs directly in a wall outlet and uses thousands of tiny transmitters to transmit energy that is focused using RF lensing and steered to the Receiving Unit. Placed on the device requiring power, the Receiving Unit “announces” its presence to the Generating Unit so the beam can be properly steered. The Receiving Unit determines how much power your device needs and converts the incoming radio wave beam to electrical power. The setting is the Sands Expo Convention Center in Las Vegas.
