Cesar Chavez met with me in O'Hare International airfield in Chicago on April 16, 1993 shortly before his death at a rigged civil trial in Arizona to give me a hand written note for Diana Eiranova Kyle, author of "Till Justice is Done" (2013), and the Coalition for Justice pledging his support in their struggle to free and exonerate two innocent Latinos - Rolando Cruz who was on death row and Alejandro Hernandez. His strong written support and a press conference in Chicago by United Farm Worker co-founder Dolores Huerta were responsible in good part not only for the exoneration of both men but also for the elimination of the death penalty in Illinois. Cesar was in deed a great humanitarian as well as a modern day Moses for the hidden sufferings and justice demands of migrant farm workers.

Cesar Chavez is a real inspiration to today's Latino and present United States blindness to our Latino contributions and humble ways of living. The only difference today is that FINALLY the Latino Community is becoming the majority. Now we can make a difference in our voting power. Latino's today more then ever are graduating from universities and colleges to become real American contributors. Thank you, Mr. Chavez for leaving a legacy of peace and Ganas!!
