@bluewaterland Cielo is no arrogant. He just broke the world record, I mean 2 world record of the most traditional events of the swimming: 100 and 50 m freestyle. Nathan is no better then him this year. His best time is 21.55 which Cielo also did this year. So in 2010 they have the same time. Lets wait and see how long (IF) Nathan will swimm below 47 and below 21. Good luck Nathan!

Ever since 2009 cielo has changed his focus to the 50 free and fly, where he's better. Kagan is a toss up for the 50 free with field looking to 4 peat but also has manaudou and morozov to deal with.

i prefer the 100 and 200 too. but the faster swimmers are the swimmers of 50 meters. 100 meters in swimming is like 400 running in atletics (46:91/43:18) 200 meters in swimming is like 800 running in atletics. (1:42:00/1:41:07) 400 and 800 is pure speed ? of course not.

It's so hard to compare like that because movements in these evironments are different. swimming on water faces more resistance than running on land. moreover, I don't even recognise world records of cielo and biedermann, which they made with support of banned suits. The true world records are 47.10 of James magnussen and 1.43.14 of Yannick Angel

i dont recognise the world records since the year 2000 since the new suits of full bodie. i dont recognise the world records of 2008 and 2009 with the plastic suits. and i dont recognise the world recors od 2010, 2011 and 2012 because they were made with incredible suits with incredible materials till the knees..only 4 years ago nobody could swim less of 48 seconds (only VDH) in 100 or less of 21:65 in 50 (only popov)...with these new suits there are 10 or 12 swimmers that can do it... SUITS !!!

The evolution never stops. People say that Cielo broke the record only because of the suit! But everybody used suits, including Phelps! Everybody at the same condition, and Cielo was the best! Put the peak Cielo to compete with Dressell today, and he would swim the 50 for 21.04 too.

Too bad he still wins medals without doping, he might not hav won in London, but he won the 50 free both in 2011 and 2013, winning the 50 fly also in 2011 and getting the gold medal in the 100 free, in the 2014 Doha WC, he also swam in a 2015 final (do not know how well he did) and activly swims, so yeah... so sorry. Also, he was using drugs 5 years ago, and not to protect him, but if they let him keep the medal, it must not have been soserious. I mean, if they suspend Phelps' activity for 6 months for a DUI...
