This is the best platypus habitat I've seen so far, every other creator is giving them massive exhibits that feel big enough for a crocodile when the platypus is such a small animal more appropriate for an indoor and private habitat as you made!

I can't understand why you sometimes talk yourself down so much, I'm always amazed where you get the ideas for your buildings/enclosures/aviary and how you implement the design. You are one of the best creators I know. In the case of cranes, for example, I am inspired by the idea of the water basins with different heights, the creative door in the entrance, the nests, the use of the various plants and much more....And you showed so much creativity and ingenuity with this little enclosure too. It's the best enclosure for a platypus I've seen! And believe me, I watch a lot of speed builds 😅😉

Platipus is ideal for a Vivarium type of setting. They will def go into my Amphibian/Insect house as a central feature.

Most platypus exhibits here in Australia are usually underground or inside a indoor veiwing gallery where they are alot cooler for the animals and they don't usually show anything other than the under water portions since they don't travel very far on land. I live in Victoria and the only two places that have them on display is Melbourne Zoo (which is the oldest of the display habitats which I think was renovated not too long ago?) and of course the one at Healesville Sanctuary which is an extremely popular one as they are dedicated to breeding & wild release. The boardwalk style is beautiful in person 😊

As always, the platypus habitat is amazing, and I like the story of why they are in Elm Hill City Zoo. I can't wait to see the wetland house and outdoor section but I will be patient. So glad i found your channel a little while back. Catching up on some older episodes of elm hill city zoo as well. And i just love the realism and creativity you bring. Also that you made an inside habitat since they are nocturnal. Learning a lot for my own zoo. I had the game for a while but just recently trying to get it more decorative and pretty basically. So your videos really help. When i have the time to play at least. Not that much sadly. But i can already see progress from what i used to build. I just really suck at roofs. Those are a puzzle to me 🤣. Great tip for the faux trees for the rock wall. Do you happen to know what item people use for those mud wall things?

I tend to make them flat and very simple 😆 when it comes to this mud wall I am not really sure what you mean. There are construction pieces in the game called mud walls but I assume you mean something else.

This looks so awesome. All my habitats look like crap. All you guys that have soooo much detail in the habitats, do you shut off animal wellness? Because whenever I put more than like, 5 trees, the game shows me that the animal doesn’t prefer high % of plants in their space.

Yeah, most people who build to realistic standards play in sandbox mode and turn off aspects of animal welfare. The gameplay just isn't optimised for realism.

Yeah I play in sandbox and I have all that turned off as I want to build realistic habitats and not limit myself to the game requirements. In real life animals won't care if the plants are not form the region that they normally live in 😅 also I think that they would appreciate more dense foliage

This is really wonderful. Really love the little story and the idea of a wetlands house. I'm slightly disappointed that you don't swap the otters around, I really think it's a cool idea of take out the giant otters and save the space for another animal I'm the future. But hey it's just because I think it's a great idea. I'm sure this idea is going to be skal cool too. I do have a question tho, why don't you ever use the mossy rock or the moss patch or what they are called from the foliage when you make a water area.? I have wonder it a lot and think you underwater area is stunning but slightly to clean. It needs some more moss or alge. In my humble opinion.

Thank you!! I decided not to do it because I don't want to renovate the older habitats - they are part of the history 😎 I don't know why I am not using them to be honest. Something about this bright green moss is slightly off for me but I will give them a try next time!

You just make such realistic builds and after all the decals has been added to the game, I just couldn't help but noticed the slight lacking. May i suggest beaver and nile monitor in the wetland building Maybe pygmy hippo too For the story of how an european zoo can have platypus, they can transfer the egg and hope to hatch it in the zoo It's really frustrating that there's nearly no bird or reptile in the game, even with dlc they're not many Pelican, stork, shoebill other cranes, pheasan, agami, victoria crowned pigeon, ibis, spoonbill, carribean Flamingo, rhea, emu, marabou stork, saddlebill etc And i forget eagle, vulture, hawk, Falcon, owl, macaw, toucan, hornbill, Amazon parrot, cookatoo that need to be flying animal etc There's so much turtle, tortoise, snakes and lizard that can be in the game Chinese alligator, crocodile monitor, caïman lizard, iguanas as habitat animal, gaboon viper, cobra, alligator turtle, red footed tortoise, etc Also it lack of deer small feline and monkey (gibbon, spider monkey, marmoset, squirell monkey, colobus, barbary macaque, baboon, ocelot, serval, caracal, bobcat, jaguarondi, red deer, wapiti, etc)

We already have a Beaver in this zoo and I will add the Nile Monitor to the reptile house that I plan to build here. Your idea about the Platypus is actually really good! This could be how they transported the Platypus to the zoo! When it comes to all those animals I wish so much that we had them in the game! Especially the birds but more reptiles and monkey would also be appointed!

Well they need to be taken care of super specifically. And eggs are super super fragile. Very few animals are transported as eggs. And when they hatch they look like jellybeans. They latch onto the mother as well so it would be too hard to do that.
