This series is alot better than the Borgias. It was more vicious and showed them as they really were.

Before watching this version of borgia i had watched The Borgias and absolutely loved it. I loved Cesare (Francois Arnaud) in the borgias. Mature and dark ,responsible, and his relating with Lucrazia ( holly grainger) true love, complexly shown. But let me tell you, this version is so much more beautiful. Mark ryder reveals complex humanity of Cesare. Reveals his vulnerability, self doubt, grandeur, beauty, God like self image and yet a fallible character with realness. This show makes audience care for the characters. You want them to be ok. You want them to thrive. This show adds SOUL to the whole story. Lucrazia (isolda) grows on you. From a child to an adult and mature character. Their bond is so beautiful. Complex like the other borgias but much more soul full love. Both shows are feast to watch. This show has much more depth and beauty. Absolutely enjoyed this creation. This show has quotes from Marcus aurelius meditaitions And in the end Cesare has a moment of deep insight into BEING nothing. Being no one. A glimpse of freedom. There is maturity, spirituality some moments of this show.

@@velisagorham8453 I will respectfully disagree with you. The Borgias was better in my opinion. Of course, both took license with the truth.

Wasn’t that Simonetta Vespucci though?
@tanjasirb78 ай бұрын
@@troublemaker833Yes. I believe it was Simonetta Vespucci. Botticelli asked to be buried at her feet and his wish was granted. Married women at that time could not be painted naked, which is why he painted her naked after her death. She was his muse.
@tanjasirb78 ай бұрын
It was Simonetta Vespucci and the timeline doesn’t match. The painting was created during the years 1485-1486. Lucrezia Borgia ( 1480-1519 ) was a toddler during those times. Simonetta ( 1453-1476 ) was already dead and a known Botticelli muse. The reason why I’m accentuating that she was dead was the fact that married women couldn’t be painted naked. Simonetta Vespucci was painted many times by Botticelli after her death. He was buried at her feet because it was his wish.

You do see though that Cesare Borgia (at least in this depiction, when looking at actual historical documents I find it kind of difficult to make out his actual personality between the myths and the slander and the admiration and the violence) is violent, impulsive, narcissistic and is mainly turned on by the fact Lucrezia (in the series) killed their brother, right? I’m not saying he does not care for her, he definitely does, but caring about someone does not make you the right person for them, especially as he continues to put Lucrezia in impossible situations and kill people she cares a out for the better part of two seasons.

But if I recall correctly she also does a lot of terrible things without Cesare's influence, so I guess they really are meant for each other 😈

Why is season 3 not available in the USA? Seasons 1 and 2 are available on streaming, season 2 is available on TV via Lionsgate. This is ridiculous and totally frustrating.

So sad...they didn't sleep together in this versión.
@jamillajohnson61082 жыл бұрын
Thanks for letting me know that because I wanted to see this one, but now there's no point in watching it. I've seen The Borgias and loved it, still watch it sometimes. So not sure if I would like this one since there is no taboo, and just seems to suggest they or he loved her. I like that Showtime depicted the rumor and went there in showing them sleep together. If this show did not "go there" and took the safe route, there's no point in watching it. I hate when show scare away from that subject or any subject that is said to be taboo, especially when that is what was rumored to have happened. I like an appreciate when shows take that chance and dive into a subject matter that is "too hot" to discuss. Those types of stories and storytelling make for good TV if done properly.
@Lothiril2 жыл бұрын
@@jamillajohnson6108 This show definitely isn't taking the safe route just because they don't show an incest sex scene on screen. They have other aspects in the show that makes The Borgias feel timid in comparison. Also, while their incestuous relationship was a rumour, there is no evidence whatsoever that it actually happened. The show doesn't shy away from the topic, it simply has a different approach to it. In the end, while both shows aren't completely historical accurate, I feel the European version has more historicity, meaning it feels closer to the time period that it's set in, which I appreciate.

Well, they are beautiful and easy to sympathize, but there is no emotional tension and passion and complexity as in showtime "the borgias" series, where Cesare and Lucrecia's couple so dark and deep in love-lust-soulmate relationship, that's almost unbearable. I will be always mourning about the fact the channel cut of the show without any proper finale

I disagree. In my opinion, this Borgias version of them is much deeper and more intense than The Borgias. The actors (Mark Ryder and Isolda Dychauk) convey so much love and emotion with just their looks at each other. I saw both versions, all seasons of each. The Borgias actors are also talented and impressive, of course. But Mark/Isolda are pure magic together on the screen. I don't know if you watched the full 3 seasons of this series, but 3rd season is just amazing. If you haven't watched 3rd season, then you are missing out because their storyline develops in the last season....
