This very unique video shows a descent and approach from FL190 into Hakodate, Japan, for a GPS approach to runway 30. ATC is recorded. It shows the importance of proper, standardized radio procedures.
High standards in radio procedures mean high standards in flight safety.
Your comments and suggestions are always welcome!
Please subscribe to my channel and spread the word around.
Happy Landings,

Amazing how you are able to understand ATC. Some were clear, some not. I have enough of a challenge in the U.S. when they speak too fast. Also, thanks for stressing to ALWAYS use checklists. Some KZbin pilots don't, and I think it can be a bad influence.

Can someone kindly explain what RNAV is?
@GuidoWarnecke
@GuidoWarnecke 3 жыл бұрын
Sorry, I should have explained earlier. R" in RNAV stands for area navigation. In the old days you could navigate from one radio beacon to the next one: A to B then to C and so on. With GPS you know your position at all times and you can route independent of the radio beacons in the entire "area". The main system that allows area navigation is GPS. Hence they call GOPS approaches RNAV approaches. Also referred to RNAV as RNAV (GPS). Happy Landings, Capt. Guido

Are you entering Japan internationally on a long cross country expedition? Or did you rent a plane to fly around from inside of Japan? I am curious what requirements would be to fly having a PPL in the USA but using it in Japan while living there. There isn't much information about this online.
@GuidoWarnecke
@GuidoWarnecke 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Patrick, this was on a ferry flight. Flying in Japan would require a Japanese license validation. Not sure how that works. Also keep in mind that private small aircrafts are very sparse there. And very expense to operate. Best would be to ask the AOPA if they have any leads. The only Cessna 172 airplanes I have seen were part of flight schools for the airlines. Happy Landings, Capt. Guido

@@GuidoWarnecke I got back into flying after a 17 year hiatus a few years back in a G1000 equipped C172. With no previous experience, I picked up the G1000 quickly and learned the system at the same time as my CFII. Of course, I had to learned how to use EFB's too - no more folding paper in the cockpit. My flying days are now past due to some health and other issues, but I always enjoy watching your exploits. I do get some sim time in from time to time but, unlike the real thing, the sim gets boring after a while.

Hi Guido. You asked me about the avionics in the C208B for X Plane. There is only one way I know how to make it work and that is to launch the game with the motor running....a Like for the vid..

@@GuidoWarnecke Yeah. Me 2..When you start X Plane and you get to choose your plane. Choose your plane and press adjust "anpassen" on the same page at the bottom right. Check the "start with motors running".....and then it works...

I only fly RC model aircraft at the moment and have had some experience on full size powered aircraft as well as in gliders when I was much younger, but am absolutely fascinated by the complexity of the procedures and the amazing professionalism of the pilot. Great stuff to watch. Thank you. 😊😊

You are very welcome Tom! My be you have seen the movie "the flight of the Phoenix" where the German engineer who rebuilt their crashed aircraft (he is an RC model designer)says: an RC model has to be designed much better because you have to use the natural stability and their is no pilot on board...
