I'd like to add a suggestion, I'm not as well versed with Clickteam as you are but I'm pretty decent with Math and Physics. Right now the angle of the projectile is exactly 45 degrees with the speed of 5 root 2. To change the angle vary the x and y speeds, the angle of projectle is the arctan of ysinx/xsinx and the resultant speed is the root of (yspeed^2+xspeed^2).

If you create your animations in the objects 'Disappearing' sequence, it will automatically destroy when completed. No need to check if animation has ended. :)

Thanks for the great tutorial! Hey any tutorial fusion 2 5 how to jump over active objects in a 8 directions game like the beat em up Double Dragon? I cant understand how a 8 directional character like link from Zelda literally moves like double dragon but how to really jump a hole? Or over a car feeling the jump and reach without slide from the roof of the car to the ground at the top...

I use both gimp and game maker studio and export each frame as a file and then import them to Clickteam Fusion 2.5 sometimes I use 3d paint. I only use game maker studio for sprite design as I find it has the editor for sprites I need.

I know this is an older Tutorial but I have a question. If you use the Disappearing animation instead does that have much of a effect? I noticed it in the Animation Editor and was wondering if it would have been easier to go through it that way.

I figured out that the object will keep most of the other codes to it before it gets destroyed (IE motion). So useful for somethings less for others.

In game design the top left of your room is 0,0. Going down is positive movement on the y-axis. Right is positive movement on the x-axis.

It's not actually moving down. It just looks like it is because your player is still moving up.

hi, me again, starting a research project now, so rewatching old stuffs, I have another question, sprities, I have imported a sprite in png format, but it seems to be required that a colour to be transparent, but since the sprite is for background, it has not "background" for it to choose from, what should I do?? thanks!! another another question, sorry :) so I have got a doom marine that I edited to be with transparent background and in png format, should I not do that and give the background a colour instead, then click to choose which transparent colour is?? thanks a ton!!

How would I go about making "bouncy" projectiles, like fireballs in the original SMB or Launcher weapon from Jazz Jackrabbit?

I could do a tutorial on it. Off the top of my head you could give the bouncy projectile a speed value, and always have it move on the y axis at that value. Also have a gravity value and always add the value of gravity to the value of the yspeed, thereby always increasing the speed at which the object moves down. When you touch a backdrop set the value to something like -5, which will make it bounce back up. If it's overlapping a backdrop for more than just a moment, you can destroy it. That should make the projectile pop whenever it hits a wall. This is just off the top of my head and probably not all that elegant, but should work. There is also a built in bounce movement you can use.

It doesn't look like you ever set the xspeed variable back to it's original value when the player is facing right, does the variable automatic revert to the value in the object properties?

You have to go to the object and set it to destroy after the animation is over. He shows this at 17:35

I used to use MMF back then and I gave up because I am an idiot when it comes to math. With the values, valuables, all that crap. I just have a hard time with. Any books they have that would explain some coding or anything outside the box to help create some more simplistic games? I am on a Mac now and was told by Jeff that this works with Mac now. I have the money to get it, but not the developers addition. Too expensive. This is for Mac as well?

Ok, so on the input conditions, I had to set the directions under the Player_Object. I don't remember you doing that in the tutorials, only setting the animation directions.

backdrops have to be set as obstacles before they can be collided with. you can find this in the properties of the backdrop

SneakySnake Can't reference object groups from a behavior. Object scoping seems to work a little better sometimes from a behavior if you are trying to reference that object.

Could you tell me how to make the projectile come out of the centre of my character, currently their leaving his head, I imagine this is because the hotspot is his neck, hes quite short, the projectile leaves just above his hotspot or thereabouts, I want the launch to be lower, any advice?

The projectile fires out of the hotspot. Make sure the action point is centered on the projectile as well, as that is the center point of the sprite for purposes of rotation and drawing.

Thanks man, actually Id just come back here to say id figured out the hotspot and action points on my projectile were way off, that had never occurred to me to set it for both character and projectile. Thanks though dude, hopefully if someone else has the problem they'll see this.

Having a problem where the throwing weapon is destroyed as soon as thrown when the character is stood on the ground, seems to be colliding with the backdrop block the character is stood on. Any way I can fix this? I've tried completely reentering all the scripts for the throwing weapon but nothing changed.

+Mitchell Wisniewski First check your action point. Make sure it's not at the feet of the character. The action point is where the thrown item is created. How big is the object you are throwing? Is it colliding with the background as soon as it's created because of it's size? Lastly check all of the code that destroys the thrown object and make sure you didn't mess up your condition on accident. Let me know if this helps.

Hi there! First of all, great video series, I learned so much about CF thanks to you! :) Well, about projectiles. I am testing Xbox pad controls. Everything works fine except projectiles. If I set the X Button for projectiles, it will just spam out projectiles like crazy until I let go of the button. I think the easiest fix would to somehow change the behaviour of the X button to the behaviour keys on the keyboard have by default (press one time for one projectile), but I'm incapable of figuring out a way to do this. Do you have any idea how to fix that? I can't seem to find solutions myself or online 🙈

Sorry, hit my button too soon. I added a condition to the event that fires. I use an Xbox 360 controller, and alongside making it check to see if the button is pressed, I also had it check the number of projectiles I have. The Condition checks to see if I have a Less that 1 projectile on screen. If there is one projectile on the screen, nothing happens, but if I don't, then it fires

You can have the fired object have a cooldown. Always reduce that number by 1, and when it reaches 0 destroy that object. Set the cooldown and you will be able to control the range. You could also check the distance between the projectile and the player. If it extends past a pre set range destroy that object.
